I was hoping for UK obviously but I kept thinking to myself that he just looks like a Duke kid. I don't know why but every time I looked at him, that's what I thought. Guess my gut was right. Oh well, in to the next.

The kid just looks like a Duke player.

What the hell does that mean?
A couple weeks ago Cal made the comment of "we give the kids the fishing rods to catch the fish, we don't just give them the fish" pretty much we give the kids the tools to succeed, we don't just hand them the fish. It all stemmed from Duke saying they prepare their kids for life, then Cal responded with that, then after they got Bolden, Duke Twitter posted that picture with the fire/fish/fisherman as a shot at Cal.

Keep believing that and you'll be very disappointed. We have Bam, whose a good but not superstar, down low and a bunch of role players or bench riders. Our frontcourt will be just as bad as it was last year.

We needed Bolden's offense bad.
What offense? I would have liked to have Bolden, but I didn't see much offense from him in any of these all star games. I know those games aren't geared toward back to the basket big men but he showed nothing.

It's getting real difficult to not wish ill on Coach K. That little negative recruiting stunt a few weeks ago might have been the push Bolden needed and it was not only uncalled for and unfounded.. but it was a dirty move by the presumed best coach in the league.

So for now I'm at "Not life threatening but an ailment that will take Coach K out of work" level.

That or herpes. Or throwing another marker and having it take out a players eye. But then again, they'd just move up in the seed line because they "battled through adversity".

God I can't wait till he's too old to coach...

I'm sorry but we could've added Bolden and you would still find another reason to complain about the team.

It is a very lame attempt.

Also want to add: If a player needs his family to make his decision, then Kentucky isn't the place for him. That's not the "Oh I didn't want him anyways" bit. Instead, the way I looked at this for weeks was that if he was mature enough to pick where he wanted.. it would have been Kentucky and that type of thinking is what I'd want in a recruit...

But, if he needed his parents to make his choice, then I'm fine with him not coming. That coddled mentality is made for Duke.. and I'm honestly not sure he would be a good fit here with that type of thinking.

They deleted the tweet soon after, but what's done is done. I wish they would have kept it. Let's let this rivalry build and build. Bigger pussies that they deleted it then actually tweeting it in the first place.

While I like to think I am massive UK fan, the extent to which some of the posters go on this board when we lose a recruit is slightly concerning. UK will be fine! Yes, Humphries may or may not be as good as Bolden, but we still have some excellent recruits and returning pieces in order to make our own run.

Momma's boy. Funny part is she will probably get angry after she realizes he will not start at Duke when it's obvious today just looking at their roster.

Like two posters have gone "overboard". Slow your roll

2 of the last 3 classes have been won by Duke, and we only won the 2015 class by virtue of having more slots available. Bolden this year, Kennard last year, guys both coaches went after hard, ended up at Duke. I may be overreacting, but I don't think my facts are wrong. Lately, Duke has been out recruiting UK (at least on paper).

Last I checked, according to RSCI, Duke still doesn't have the #1 class this year even with Bolden. However, that was the composite rankings before 24/7 redid theirs. So I'm not sure at the moment

It's REAL close either way. But had Bolden picked Kentucky, we'd have been a substantial distance ahead.

Yet, according to ESPN (Duke's 2nd home bball board) UK is still #1, even with them landing Bolden.

Seriously, our season didn't hinge on this decision. It's going to be okay. It really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really will.

Seriously.

Meh she cost him a lot of money but at least Duke will take care of him for the rest of his life. [thumb2]

Well I guess Jerry Meyer wasn't pulling it out of his A$$ after all and Ulisman was. No surprise what so ever if you go by each track record, well shouldn't have been a surprise but due to Jerry not picking UK some questioned him like he was clueless

I can't understand all of the doom and gloom. Seems many are discounting Issac and Tai without ever having seen Tai play a minute of college ball. We really need Briscoe to return and I'll be more upset if he leaves than I am about losing Bolden to Duke

He had a tough decision to make. IF everything was equal basketball-wise, then choosing Duke over UK, from a school standpoint, is arguably a good choice.

However, basketball-wise, things are not exactly equal. Both programs are at the top. But teams needs and rosters are different. He chose the option with more depth at his position. That must mean he is confident he is good enough to get enough playing time to show the NBA what he can do.

It's just possible, however, that his confidence is greater than his skills and he ends up spending much more time on the bench at Duke than he would have at UK. Time will tell.

Where is the engineering board? You should definitely post and stay in there. I agree he can do what he wants but the engineering comparison is dumb AF.
Well, seeing as how your dumb *** wouldn't gain admittance to a community college engineering program, that might be a nice place to be.

And the comparison is perfect unless you can tell me why your opinion on Bolden's decision means anything more than what you think about the engineering kid's choice.

You are absolutely right. We wouldn't call an engineering student selfish if he waited to choose UK this late. Do you know why? Because know one on this board gives a toss about an engineering student committing to UK. This is a basketball board. When is the last time we talked about a top 5 engineering recruit and how his decision will impact the team? How many engineering threads do you see posted on this site? Any at all? No. Now go back to your basement my good man.

But seriously, have a good Thursday and weekend. I am going down to Raleigh for a Kenny concert. Should be a blast.

Now that it's over I can finally admit.....every time a saw a pic of Bolden it just screamed Dukie. I kind of had a hard time picturing him as a Wildcat, but would have loved to have got him. Would have kind of been icing on the cake. We are more than set with Wenyen, Bam, Killeya-Jones and Hump. I'm really hoping Isaac hits the weights this year and bulks up, but it seems like that is pretty rare with college kids.

You're an idiot, that I know now

Edited: apparently my thumbs up emoji didn't come through

My feelings are genuinely hurt that you feel that way about me. I'll make sure to tell my therapist we have a whole different bag of issues to deal with now. We can forget Mom for a while

I missed the part where you explained why you're not a dickhead for blasting a kid over his own personal decision in one case but not the other.

"Because I care so much durrrrrr hurrr" is not an explanation. I know, intuitively, why Westboro Baptist protests military funerals but not (insert some other event here). Because they care more about that topic. Who gives an ish that they care more about that topic? That doesn't excuse it. That just explains why they're being dickheads. But they're still being dickheads.

I know why you're being a dickhead. That wasn't a mystery. The question was how does you caring about his decision absolve you of your dickishness? And the answer is that it doesn't. It would be dickish to tear down the engineering kid making his own life decision, and it's dickish to do it to Bolden.

I've said all along that he isn't very good. I wish we went after Allen, a kid that can rebound and defend. It's Lee that I worry about not returning. He's as good right now as Bolden.

Duke never has good post players and if we meet them it's gonna be a blow out.

I said all along we gotta win this title next year and we will at all cost. Because I want it.

Eh, whatever. Would rather have a senior Lee back honestly. No guarantees that Bolden would even start over Humphries/Lee. And we still have no idea what we have with Wynyard.

We still have the #1 class this year.
