We now know what pretty much all the decisions are sans Mintz at this point. With Brooks coming back, that confirms for me that Jackson is gone. And rightfully so.

That brings us to 11 as it stands now:
Washington
Hopkins
Collins
Allen
Wheeler
Grady
Fredrick
Toppin
Ware
Brooks
Oscar

Possible: Mintz

That is a pretty solid roster. It's particularly strong if we keep Mintz.

How does everyone feel going into the season?

Wheeler, TyTy
Grady, Mintz
CJ, Allen, hopkins
Brooks, Toppin, Ware
Oscar, Collins

Deepest team we have had in a while. I think guards will split minutes evenly like a platoon. Collins, if he turns out to be special will steal minutes.
I agree on the guards. All 6 will expect minutes.

If Collins is the shot blocker he is projected to be, keeping him off the floor will be difficult. He is supposedly a better rim protector than Jackson was.

I think DM will be back. The fact that he chose to go through the NBA evaluation process and not immediately just sign with an overseas option, tells me it's between the NBA and UK. He isn't getting drafted, so I believe he will be back.
This.

He has to know there's a very high chance he isn't drafted at all. If the overseas route was in play, he'd just sign with an agent and move on.

Agree. Collins will keep Oscar really honest and Hopkins will keep Brooks honest
I think Toppin and Brooks will battle for those minutes. Hopkins is the one I am not sure will play a lot this year. He and Ware seem like the most likely to get spot minutes.

That's a team that's built to go balls to the walls for forty minutes. I'd swap Ware and Collins on the depth chart, though. Ware isn't seeing many minutes at the 4, I don't believe, and Collins looks a little light in the loafers to handle the 5 against grown-azzed college men.

Hopkins may surprise. From everything I've read about him, I'm getting a picture of a poor mans draymond green. Those types of players find ways to get/stay on the floor.

I’ve said many times that mintz is the guy I wanted most. He’s got a lot of inner discipline and while not overly talented, he’s just so steady. He toughed it out in a dreadful season and his body language was rock solid. I’ve coached ball for many years. Your body language tells your story. He’s my guy.

Mintz is one of the players meeting with media soon along with Brooks and Fredrick. Mintz isn't gonna be available to talk if he is leaving. He is back and we are set

I think Mintz's decision is not about improving his position for a professional career. Its whether he wants to play a 6th year in college or go ahead and do something else in life.
I do think overseas is an option. But I believe Mintz's thinking is as you say. He has his flaws as a player, and he'd have to be willing to potentially accept a diminished role on next year's team. But I'd sure love to have his experience and hustle for another season.

You know that my staring at a roster of players youve never seen play together before? Impressive
Making prognostications is what people do in sports, business, politics, etc...Nobody knows the future but the OP asked for feelings about the team...so...

IMO....Feels like a R32 or sweet16 ceiling team.

That was my thoughts as well. We have no idea how they will play together and most of us haven't seen any of the new players at all. Projecting how far they will go is just a shot in the dark.

Can’t do much worse than last year. It looks like Cal is adapting. Would love to have Mintz back but I think we have a solid team even if he doesn’t. We have some hard nosed guys coming back and some shooters. I like it.

I think it looks to be a Sweet 16 type team unless someone turns out to be much better than we thought.
This is off the subject Cornbread, but I remember growing up in Elliott Co. and my dad would pick leaf lettuce, green onionns and new potatoes. My mom would fry the new potatoes, make a salad out of the lettuce and green onions, fry a pound of bacon, and turn it into bacon bits. She would then make a bacon dressing and pour it over the lettuce and green onions. Last, she woulkd fix her cornbread on top of the stove in a cast iron skillet.Still makes my mouth water!

Did they announce Mintz was one of the guys speaking to the media?
I read yesterday somewhere on here that Brooks, Mintz and Fredricks will be the 3 talking to media at some upcoming event. Idk what thread it was in exactly, but know I read it on here yesterday.

And if anyone told you the ingredients, without knowing how the end result would be, wouldn’t many call that a S16 or worse dinner? Sounds like your Mother is a hell of a “kitchen coach”. Here’s to hoping Cal can take notes 📝
