Curfew violation. Now you will be put in time out. What did you think about Issel? What was the best game you saw him play? Why do you think we lost to Texas Western in 1966. Who was UK’s first African American player? Did you like seeing the Cats destroy Duke in 78? Let’s discuss
Texas Western was before my time as was Issel. But I’m old enough to have watched the 78 game. But none of that matters as to whether you’re right or wrong. It’s a little weird that you think the only people that disagree with you are young and therefore don’t know what they’re talking about. I can assure you that I’ve watched enough sports in my lifetime to have an educated opinion on the subject. And I most certainly don’t agree with much of anything you post. I just wonder if you felt the way about past UK coaches as you seem to feel about Cal. If you’re not satisfied with the results he’s produced then you should’ve had a big issue with everyone after Rupp since no coach has exceeded what Cal has accomplished.

I have no issues with Cal's recruiting. He has already proven to be a great evaluator of players.

And besides that, if he signs a guy that some say is a notch below .... half the fan base should be thrilled. Those kids are more likely to stay longer. If they don't, then they overachieved.

I don't see the issue.

To earn that 10 million a year and fill some roster spots with some high-quality Players He has created this one and done monster so he needs to fulfill it

Yeah, he has done absolutely nothing to earn it so far...

Why does there seem to be two different John Calipari's? One is the instructive and focused coach we've seen in practice situations or talking about the program outside game situations.
Then, there is the totally different persona we see on the sidelines that goes ballistic when certain players (by his determination) make mistakes.

Hagans makes 7 turnovers in a game and seems to have a whole pocketful of 'get out of jail' cards. In the same game Baker makes one bad mistake and Cal pulls him out of the game, screams at him like some kind of madman and never gives the kid another chance. This after he was instrumental in two important wins?
Couple those actions with a young guy who is already a bit homesick and it's easy to see why players like Baker doubt their future in the program.

Who knows how many times this scenario has been played out?
I really like Cal but, at times he seems to be playing a role on the sidelines. Other coaches can be intense and motivational without the over-reactions and almost vindictive treatment of players. Seems when certain players get into Cal's 'doghouse' it can be next to impossible to get out.
IMO, this is a worsening problem and may be at least partially at the heart of the transfer issue.

^ This.

This has been a re-occurring theme over the past ten years. IMO it's because the one it's happening to isn't a perceived OAD player. I remember thinking the same thing about the Twin's mid-way through their first year.

About the only players I can think of off the top of my head that stayed all four years have been former KY Mr. Basketball's. And it appears we're not interested in recruiting them anymore. So I don't see how we are ever going to keep many players here all four years that aren't OADs (or fake OADs).

The constant screaming drives me nuts and I'm not even a player and watching on TV! LOL

You have to be old enough to talk about decades past. Now I know why you are so senile and miserable.

There is a solution. Quit reading this board and quit watching.
