Yea, but it makes things a lot easier when you got a guard that has no chance of getting in the lane and drawing defenders.

It would help if we ran some set plays instead of always depending on someone to get around their man. You know some sets with screens.

Watch, Alabama will go 10-35 from 3 their next game and lose.
Even if they do, doesn’t help us much now. In years past we could say, so and so team just shot lights out and no one was beating them. But Bama was just being Bama tonight. They weren’t jaggernauts. NO ONE is intimidated by UK anymore, especially not n the SEC. So that whole, X team played crazy against UK and then was their normal self next game **** just doesn’t play out anymore. If we stay on this path, will UK even be Bball royalty outside of this state in 5 years? We make fun of Indiana a lot, but how far away are we from that fate? Tell you what, 20 point home losses to Alabama are definitely enough to make me worry about it No matter how poorly they shoot next game.

Even if he gets in the lane, all our bigs are just standing there doing next to nothing and the rotation is easy for the defense

He is the biggest problem on the team. When you have a PG that can’t get in the lane it’s impossible to generate any kind of offense.
Then explain Gonzaga, Baylor, Nova, Texas, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Creighton, Wisky and Tennessee are able to generate offense? There is maybe 2 point guards on those teams I'd consider as a 'penetrator' per se.

Some of you people act like if you don't have a NBA All Star team you can't win. How did UK teams with Epps, Travis Ford win at UK. And if having an elite penetrator PG is so vital to Cal's style of play...why in hell does he not kids like KyKy Tandy as some semblance of depth at PG? Why risk going into a season with Devin Askew...who anyone that cared to watch even 1 hour of AAU ball could see he's not nowhere like Fox, Knight, etc...PGs?

Boston would be a lot better if he had good PG. It is nearly impossible for a guy his size to get to basket if you have to drive with the whole defense focused on you.
You have to be kidding....Are you honestly putting the horrendous year of Boston at the feet of PG play?

imo the offensive end stuff hurts but not as much as not being able to guard any guard that worth his salt.. you get best off the dribble consistently, you are screwed . Having said that there are times I question if we actually teach it .. funnel your guy towards the rim .. lol

I was going to start a thread on it but I’ll just add it here . Yes I’m pissed off , and yes today would be a good day to log off ... but it’s not that freaking hard !!!!!!
play Mintz , Allen , Sarr , Jackson and Brooks . Start them , ride them . The only slow defender out there is Allen , you can hide one guy . Sub out for rest with Askew , Boston and as soon as Clark gets back I’d work him in ahead of the other three subs .
Then you go zone about 1/2 the time or more depending on the players on the floor and the opponent .
I realize that Brooks has been out but what would our record be with DA getting the minutes he deserved before the 1-6 start??? Is it really that damn hard ?
but noooooooo Cal has to force feed Brandon Freaking Boston down Kentucky’s throat . And for that matter Askew as well , even though it was painfully obvious the young man wasn’t ready .
