Is this team deeper than 2015?

The question is which team is "deeper", not "better".

So in 2015, before the Poythress injury, the 9-11 guys were Johnson, Lee and Willis or Hawkins.
And after the Poythress injury the 9-11 guys were Lee, Willis and Hawkins.

Comparatively the 9-11 guys this year are Ware, Onyenso, and Theiro.
I could see the argument for either team (before the Poythress injury), but after the Poythress injury I think it's this year's group.

Now 2-8, without a doubt the 2015 team was better.

This might be the most ignorant post I’ve ever come across on this forum or any other forum on the internet, honestly. Including Reddit. Which is saying a lot. At this point, we have probably zero players who have proven themselves to be NBA talent… much less consistent college players. Not saying they don’t have potential to get to that point, but if they were wearing a jersey that said anything but Kentucky, literally no one would be talking about them. I don’t mean to make it personal against the kids - they are what they are - but to pretend they’re in the same stratosphere as the 2015 lineup is comical. Oscar, Toppin, Wallace. All three great college players. They would get skunked by Towns, Booker, and WCS. Add in the remaining players for both teams and it only gets worse. Please delete this post lol.

But I didn't dig up this thread to bash posters. I think this thread demonstrates how much we hype up teams on here (and I have been guilty of it too plenty myself!) I know we're excited for next years class. I want them to be great, but we've seen this pattern before. As long as Cal coaches, as long as he is the center factor their talent only matters if they are above and beyond talented like the 2012, 2015, 2017 classes. Otherwise he finds a way to screw it up. Is it worth keeping Cal because of potential talent, knowing he has screwed up the last three years?

No problem. I was REALLY hopeful that Cal had FINALLY figured it out, BOY was I WRONG!!!

Our team is NO WHERE NEAR even the 2022 team. Cal has lost it and needs to either go or rehaul EVERYTHING!!!

I was off about this year's team as well. Most of all I've been off thinking Cal would be as engaged and coach like he used to.

Last night's game is a perfect summary for where Kentucky's program is right now. 1st Half was a big time product--both teams were getting after it and it felt like a big game and was played like a big time game. Then it immediately got sloppy for Kentucky and they all gave in to the game, tapped out and got pummeled.

Cal's half assed his way through a season and his reasoning for why some guys play/others don't is asinine. I will say the most telling thing that I do think is a legit issue for not just Kentucky but several teams is hearing Dykes quoted as saying "Cal asked his guys what is more important; winning or your phone/social media status?". When you have accomplished nothing as a player or team and this is an issue before a February 7th game which would greatly help your chances of getting into the NCAA Tournament, speaks to how out of touch the program sits. Also speaks to how players are using this place for their own benefit and not to give 2 s**ts about winning.

Excellent post. This season isn't quite a 9-16 type debacle but...it's close. There is plenty of blame to go 'round including the fanbase believing a.) the media and messageboard driven hype that seems to happen EVERY year with UK basketball. And b.) that any team coached by washed up Calipari has a chance to do anything these days. His offense is outdated and so is his approach to the game as a whole.

I cannot control how Calipari coaches but, I can and will ignore any and all hype attached to next year's team. Why? The college game has changed a lot since UK was last relevant (2017) and Calipari shows no signs of adapting or changing to remain in touch with the current game.
UK will win more games in 23-24 because there will be more talent on the roster. But, I still have -ZERO- confidence in Calipari.

Ahhhh, no. Not even in the same universe. But, we do have some players--they need someone who will help them with their confidence and will demand effort, heart, and superb play, or else they see the bench, regardless of who they are. Give me Brendan Canada if need be...
