Is Moorhead's offense difficult to learn or not?

Our entire offense couldn't grasp it last year yet we're gonna bring in Stevens 4 months from our first game to run it?

That was 18 months ago and Stevens was the backup not getting all the starter snaps in practices. Moorhead is a damn idiot or KT must be. No other options.

I think there are plenty of other options. Stevens could just be better than KT. Regardless of who is better or not, Stevens has more time in the offense.

I don't think it is any more complex than Meyer's offense. I'm not sure why you assume our entire offense couldn't grasp it last year. Nick certainly appeared confused at times, and our linemen were a bit jumpy, but that doesn't mean no one understood the offense.

Penn State's players picked it up just fine in year 1. So did Fordham when it was brand new.

They promoted from within and just kept running it when Moorhead left. He's been running the offense for 3 years. "No other options"? Man, you're dense.

I don't think it will matter too much who the QB will be. There is one dreadful component to the part of the offense Moorhead wants to improve, that being, the worst receivers in the SEC.

It is not difficult. There are numerous articles out there confirming that it is based on simplicity. It does, however, require the quarterback to make great reads in the passing game, where Mullen's offense required it in the running game.

I have seen people comparing this offense to the Croom Coast Offense. While funny, it is not realistic. Croom expected NFL level reads while at the same time being a bad coach himself. Moorhead and Mullen are both pretty good coaches.

People need to relax if they're worried about Croom 2. Yes, Moorhead's inability to adjust at UK was extremely Croomish, but we destroyed bad teams with Moorhead's system. Croom would have had us sweating out KSU and La Tech this year. I think the question is whether we end up where 5-6 wins is the norm with Moorhead, or 7-8 wins is the norm. I don't think anything better is reasoanble to expect unless and until he gets potential NFL draftees at WR, which is probably going to take a few years at least based ont eh recruiting we're seeing so far.

Those that compare Moorhead to Croom are truly clueless. Moorhead has coached this system in more than one place. It takes a QB with a high football IQ who can make the reads first and pass accurately second.

Those are our scores against a SEC defense with a pulse. Thank goodness for an elite defense or the margin of victory in those losses would be and look much worse. I think we will continue to beat the bad teams, struggle against the top ones, and coin flip with the others, but what else is new.

Every team does this until they can get Top 15 level talent.

Exactly. Mullen's record against SEC teams with good defenses wasn't stellar either. Nor was Sherrill's even though we had some big wins. Croom's certainly wasn't. Ultimately we will need to start recruiting top tier QBs and WRs if we want to do better against those types of teams. The scheme won't really make much of a difference.

And that's awful, but we scored against 63 (SFA), 56 (ULL), 52 (Ark), 45 (La tech) and 35 (UM) against teams with bad defenses. Then 31 (KSU), 23 (Aub), 28 (A&M), and 22 (Iowa) versus teams with mediocre to pretty good defenses.

Croom's last year, we scored 34 v. Southeastern Louisiana, 31 against Middle Tennessee Tech, 14 at La Tech, 17 against Vandy, 13 against UK. Then we scored 2 versus Auburn, 7 v. Ga Tech, 3 v. UT, 7 v. Bama, and 0 v. Ole Miss. We did score 24 against an LSU team that went 3-5 in the SEC and 28 against an Arkansas team that went 2-6 in the SEC, so there's that.

Scoring Defense rankings for Iowa, Auburn, Texas A&M, Kansas State were 11, 14, 47, and 49. Two very good / elite defenses and two that were in the Top 50 nationally. All of those defenses had a pulse.

Why are you hijacking this thread by bringing up a different 2 month old thread? Looks like I'm a better poster and driver than you.

Using past examples to prove present arguments isn’t dumb. It’s actually smart.

You are a bad driver who has admitted it but still think you are a good driver.
This is evidence that you aren’t particularly smart which is confirmed in this thread.
