It is overboard to me. All accusations unfounded on his part. Nowhere have we ever even seen or talked about Cohen not being loyal to State. Never has there ever been a good time for any employee to leave and take a new job but I’ve seen plenty fired where the timing was always perfect!
Wouldn’t you think that somewhere in this process, Cohen had to tell Keenum that he’s headed out and that Keenum would have the mindset to keep Cohen away from any and all practices, bb season is almost here too you know, until John was out? Even if he did make the practices, how many times you seen any ad making their daily rounds and concentrating on every little thing that happens in the practices they are at taking notes? Every time I’ve seen one in attendance, they’re talking w/other people around them. Even John, as focused as he was on baseball, was always either busy up top level talking to ad min, Polk, or his wife when she was w/him. So really?
I’m not a fan of not reporting on injuries from week to week, I mean really how much difference does it make if you know or don’t know who is or isn’t playing week to week? Granted I’m just a casual fan but I don’t believe a single game has ever been won or lost because an opponent knew a player was good to go or not. Even if they do play they have the chance of being hurt and no one can plan for that or vice-versa, they say they ain’t playing and do play them and the team gets the W solely because of that?
I always thought Matt had pretty good takes and agree w/him on most stuff but I quit listening to him some time ago. It’s like every time you turn him on he’s either not there, or it’s a recording, or someone else is on. He doesn’t seem consistent in even putting up play film studies but maybe that’s a casual thing for him & that’s fine, do it when you got time.
If he’s disrespected by John’s decision & how he left fine, say your piece and move on. But I’d propose were the shoe on the other foot and he had the opportunity to take another job that he felt bettered himself and his family, he’d make the move as well on his own terms. Maybe he’d do that differently & that’s fine but maybe after his delay, he’d have no new job to go to and if that had played out for John, we all know he’d still be right here in Starkville looking forward to the game on Saturday night, right, still safe and secure in his job? ha!
I believe everyone saw where auby was looking at arky’s ad for the job and he turned it down. Maybe auby told John it’s now or never, you in or you out and John had to make the take? Me no better than Matt on that take, all speculative but certainly there was a reason John chose to leave when & the way he did, so like it or lump it, it ain’t any of us, we don’t know all he was faced w/or what decisions he had to make but wish him well and send him on his way & move on.
Matt did say John did a good job so why all the sudden John gonna jump ship, spill his guts on everything he knows about Starkville to a team who if wins or loses, it ain’t gonna make a hill of beans to their program anyways, coach is fired, team is shot? John been a Bulldog since what, he’s 19 or 20 years old? I don’t see that changing just because he got an opportunity to better himself & his family & move on. He’ll still be as loyal Maroon as this new endeavor will allow him to be and we don’t see any other reason he wouldn’t be. But we heard your disgust, noted it and that’s your opinion. Time to
pick it up & move it on along.
