Yep. I'm never going to let this go.

Just imagine you run a company and you hire a contractor. He's not technically an employee but you've got him in a high profile role and he's working for you consistently (that was Wyatt's position when he was employed by Learfield to serve on our broadcast team). Except he spends his time when he's not on the job for you basically serving as a mouthpiece for your competitor. How long are you going to keep that guy as a contractor?

You can spin it all you want about "he was just repeating what Freeze/OM told him" or "he trusted Freeze because of [reasons]" but the bottom line is Wyatt was a shill for OM and then spent time shilling for other players/teams on his YouTube channel. He may have played here and some of you may think he's decent on the radio but he does not have MSU's best interests at heart. He's always put his own self-interests first. Which means moaning about Cohen is more than a little rich coming from him.
I 100% disagree. His job was to be on that radio show and report what he is told. His main job was Head to Head. His secondary job was Learfield.

Doesn't matter which job was primary or secondary. The fact is we employed him (indirectly, through Learfield) to represent MSU. That he would then serve as a shill for OM (or any other SEC school) in his other job is inexcusable.

Him being employed directly or indirectly by MSU doesn't give MSU the right to censor speech outside of the purview of his MSU duties, unless it negatively impacts MSU.

Matt saying he believed Freeze, while a bad take, didn't rise to that level. Most people with a healthy amount of cynicism knew Freeze was a snake oil salesman but Matt didn't. He learned his lesson.

Holding this mistake over Matt's head is dumb. Just move on.

I never perceived Wyatt as carrying water, or being a mouthpiece for Ole Miss. His MSU credentials/history are not really questionable. I think that as a Christian, he could not deal with the level of dissonance it caused to hear how Freeze talked and reconcile it with what he was accused of. Basically he gave him the benefit of the doubt due to personal bias and assuming that anyone claiming Christ could not possibly behave that way. Turns out Freeze was way worse than imaginable by decent humans so Matt apologized for being wrong about him. I don't see any of that as pro Ole Miss, just a complete swing and miss on Freeze's character. Happened to a bunch of folks. Luckily I saw enough Benny Hinn and Jole Olsteen to know a phoney when I see one!

Re: "toting the water". Matt was fed information by a source. This is pretty common practice by people in the media. He took his source at his word and it turns out his source burned him. It happens. It likely wasn't the first time he was fed information by somebody in the Ole Miss Athletics Department and it likely wasn't the last.

Matt wasn't the only one that got fed that line. It was the whole crux of Houston Nutt's lawsuit against Ole Miss.
