With him representing jones county, maybe Sanderson and Howard will throw some money behind a candidate to run against him.

I was just looking at his website for the MS state senate. He’s the vice chair of the ethics committee. Isn’t this the same guy who had someone sneak in a nursing home and take pictures of Thad’s bed ridden wife?

Isn’t Moselle home to a Klan group? It’s pretty close to Flagheads too. That whole area has a klan militia feel to it.

I went to school with Chris. Not friends with him because I knew him just well enough to know that I didn’t want to be friends with him. Super cheesy douche back then, and it doesn’t look like he’s changed a lick since.

I’ve met McDaniel twice, both times were before he ran against Thad. First time was at a State-USM baseball game in Pearl, the other time was at a luncheon. He made his name when the Tea Party movement was at its peak, but something always seemed off about him to me. Then he showed his true colors in 2014, and now he’s a real problem that is holding this state back.

I think his goose was already cooked from a statewide perspective, he went from winning 49% of the vote in the 2014 US Senate primary to winning 16% in 2018. But as you can see, he can still do damage from Jackson. And unfortunately I don’t think that Jones County will vote to get rid of him anytime soon. If you look at the comments on his Facebook page it is shocking how many people are firmly behind what he is doing right now. Don’t think it’s a coincidence that Jones County has also been one of the worse places in the state for COVID cases, I am from that area and while there are good people there, it’s also home to a lot of people who don’t seem to use or possess good sense.

I am from Jones County and I have a lot of family that still lives there. All of us are conservatives and all of us think McDaniel is a total snake.

True. His part of the county has grown only because of Hattiesburg spillover.

Which is ironic because being in favor of the current flag is the equivalent of being in favor of taking a sledgehammer to USM and the Hattiesburg economy. Maybe not quite as bad as MSU/Starkville or OM/Oxford but very similar.

We decided on here between here and Texas at the time because of my job and family. But since my career advancement has become stagnant and it's been better opportunities out of state for both my wife and I. But unless things get better in STEM for higher end jobs and things moving forward economically and socially it makes being in other states a lot more attractive for younger people in their 30s and 40s with a lot of career and family building left. Education jobs social life and laws. When you have the McDaniels of the state holding us back it makes it real easy to go to places that are still southern but moving a long with the times and have better education and higher end stem jobs etc etc. Mississippi will always be home and I want it to be better and I want it to be better but so many in the state seem to want to clinch to the old times they are not forgotten. Some of the south culture I enjoy. But many cling to the worse parts of that southern culture for whatever reason to honor their dead great grandpappy. Some people just want Mississippi to remain on the bottom stuck in 1950 because it's the good ole days and many of the younger generations are tired of fighting them. We might finally be on the verge of some change for once and we still are having to push harder than ever.

McDaniel and I also attended the same school but not at the same time.

I’m a few years older than him. While we’ve never talked to each other, we have loads of mutual friends.

This is true. Laurel draws a lot tourists due to their show. It’s really punched up the downtown businesses.

Laurel is by no means perfect but the downtown area has grown tremendously in the last 5 or so years. Relative to the rest of the state, it’s an area that’s had a lot going for it the last few years.

I grew up with those folks in Mississippi. They kept telling me that the Civil War was about State's Rights and had nothing whatsoever to do with slavery.

Glad I'm in Texas with a safe flag... for now anyway.

You're right. Any of us conservatives need to stand up to this extremism and stop it now. Look what AOC and "the gang" have done to the Democratic Party on a national level. You can't find a conservative Democrat anymore, and very few middle of the road ones.
