Laugh all you guys want. Some of the same guys who would be bitching if we ran the ball three times and didn't score are the ones screaming when he calls a GREAT pass play and the player doesn't execute and the ball goes off his hands. Its pure nonsense. Conversely on that TD pass to RVZ he makes the play and its huge. If he doesn't get the foot down and we don't get a TD but settle for a field goal you'd be bitching that we didn't run the ball just like when we do run the ball, and don't score you whine about that, and you know thats a fact. Heres a fact. Lester called a great game. End of story. Maybe don't need to dissect the game in absolutes in the 1st quarter. There are ebbs and flows to the momentum, just like the runs in college basketball. The whining is insufferable..

No, I would not be bitching if they ran the ball 3 times behind our line vs. their d-line. "Conversely", it was a terrible call to throw a slant on 1st and 4 out of an empty backfield to a 5'10" rb who is running directly into the middle of their defense that's just waiting past the goal line.

And these are the ebbs and the flows of our lives as Hawk Fans.

Its so fun to go back and read all these ridiculous posts from the first part of the game. And yet many of the same posters comment on poor coaching and play calling, all the while they're clueless. ALWAYS know what should have been called AFTER the plays been run, and run and hide under their coffee table at the first mistake the team makes. Its almost more fun reviewing the game thread then the actual game. Well ALMOST.....
Remember earlier in the season when you got mad at me for saying Mary farded during 69? @Easthawk1062

Iowa staff best coaching job since 2004
-Phil got most out of defense
-OL a great turnaround story winning the Joe Moore Award
-passing game took steps
-ended season with a win over a ranked SEC team that tried to win and only had one opt out
Completely agree. I’ve been a big Debbie Downer on most of the staff for the past 7-8 years, but I was very impressed with the growth this season. Even the wide receivers played well today. Well-coached game on all fronts.

THAT version of Gronk for the whole season would have had us in the playoffs making noise.

Great season tho

Agree. He is sooooo much better than he was the first half of the season and this was easily his best game of the year.
It's almost like the longer he had to recover from shoulder surgery, the better he got...

I didn't touch the game thread till after I ate a pound of ribeye, but it went just exactly as I expected. Like reading the diary of a bi polar teenage girl...

Unless he would have caught it. Then would have been good call ▶️ 👍

The video clip after that game - VanderZee looked like he was floating along - all smiles, etc. Glad he (and everyone else) are so happy.
