43-24 5 left in 3rd. Some sloppy mistakes, CVS is not happy at all, so she made a complete lineup change. LOL.

Jeune with the steal, and layup! Alfano in also. Butts with the layup. CVS may just leave this group in. 47 - 24.

trying to follow via gametracker. if it's accurate, neither team has scored in the first 6 minutes of the 4th quarter. ugh. but happy to see the bench getting some good minutes. gametracker lists a player named Alana Ferruggiaro for RU. huh?

58 - 33 final.
Attendance: Fewer people in my section than on Sunday and the crowd looked a bit more sparse. Not surprisingly on a school night, fewer kids.

I could believe that no one scored for about 6 minutes in the 4th qtr.
There was a player I had not seen before on the bench. Never took her warmups off, but looked like #10 through the jacket. There is no 10 on the roster.
She looks similar to Parsons who transferred. Could this be the Alana Ferruggiaro on Gametracker?
Will have to investigate further, unless the more informed people already know (such as a Cager). Or we could see if she is there again on Sunday.
She sat down by the younger Jeune at the end of the bench and was actively listening during the timeouts.

The bench did get some good minutes against the Iona starters.
Iona's style of play was not as bad as Arkansas but they were similarly unproductive.
Rachel really did try to control the middle while she was in.
Copper looked a bit off her shot and took a couple of nasty shots (as in falls/pushes) in the second half. She appeared to have been a marked woman by the Iona staff so the players stayed quite close to her.
She did have a great tip-in/put back on a shot that someone missed, showing again how high she can jump.

Stringer seemed to strongly advise Hernandez before she put her back in the last couple of minutes and after that was when Cynthia tried some different kinds of shots - closer in than 3 points.
Ariel had some good, heads up action while she was on the floor with all of the frosh +Alex
All of the players seemed to hustle and everyone was quite happy for the very long 3 pter from Jeune, who had a huge smile afterwards.

Go RU!

solid win, a needed win and nice to see an emphasis placed on defense

To me, the sweetest moment was Aliyah coming out onto the court to hug Ashli after Ashli played so well. Fun watching the kids do their thing, and they were not a liability on defense, at least against this weak opponent. Would love to know more about that mystery woman on the bench, but even when everyone else got into the game, she didn't, so whoever she is, she's not ready for prime time.

From the official roster on scarletknights.com:
10 Alana Ferruggiaro G SR 5-4 Maplewood, N.J./Columbia
That's funny. I just looked at the roster on line after I got back from the game so either the roster was cached on my computer without her or someone updated since then. From Google, I did find some nj.com articles mentioning her as playing for Columbia HS but no photos. She was class of 2012 in high school and was honored for academics last year at Rutgers. APP has an article about the game that mentions her and she looked familiar since she has been a team manager.

Has anyone heard an update about Aliyah? She has been out a long time for a sprained ankle.

I wonder when they updated that... I checked before I posted my comment (of course).
aha, from the post-game notes...

- Alana Ferruggiaro has been added to the roster as a walk-on. Ferruggiaro, a senior from Maplewood, N.J. and Columbia High School, has served as a Scarlet Knight manager the last two seasons. She will wear No. 10 this season.

When I saw that she's a senior, I suspected that she might have been a student manager.
