Indiana has passed a lot of teams by. I’m stunned at how good they are. Dominant.

Are you kidding? Their quick turnaround was built on transfers and NIL.
It’s called coaching…their entire team
Executed all year long…the entire team!!

with our offense I think cignetti would have had Rutgers in similar situation but our defense was prob not in in good shape for any coach

Yes Cignetti is a really good to great coach and has a staff to match.

But Mendoza cost $2.6 million this year, we were lucky if we had $2.6 mil. for our entire roster.
That doesn't seem fair.

I saw a couple of Indiana games this year. They had good players but more that they had playmakers. They channeled just enough opportunistic serendipity to keep the carpet ride going. They weren't crushing teams and sending players to the hospital like Ohio St in 2014. They were about to lose a game a few weeks back but a reaching receiver snatched a pass with toes right down on edge of a white line with seconds to go.

In my mind I saw tonight's game as magic vs the machine and the magic won with a squeak. Indiana made just enough timely plays to keep the spark going. Ohio FG kicker Jay Fielding was 6 of 6 inside the 30 this year when he lined-up for a 27 yard gimme.. An unexpected funky kick gave title to Hoosiers. Maybe Gene Hackman blew on the ball. I'm usually an OSU fan but its fun to see a wormhole open-up and let some new light into the musty chamber of top five football.

This is semi-pro football with little revenue sharing.

Serious question, if I won the powerball, is there any limit to how much I could donate to fund NIL and buy the roster?

could I just single-handedly fund the football team to the level of the juggernauts in college football?

Yes. You would do so through the RNIL fund (corporate donation fund). Just have to provide adequate business justification that would withstand Clearinghouse scrutiny.

Even if Rutgers had the money to spend 2.6 million on Mendoza, he wouldn't have been this player here because IU has better coaches.
Mendoza was originally committed to Yale. Ended up at Cal. Bailed for a $2.6M payday and #1 ranking. Imagine if there was no transfer portal or NIL.

They execute because they are better players. Great players make great coaches. They are spending much more than RU on a roster.

paint chips are not a delicacy
Cignetti is a great coach, but if you think he won with only the players he inherited and recruited to Indiana in the last two years out of high school, you are the one with the cognitive functioning issues.

They stepped up their NIL game in a big way with his hire.

That doesn't seem fair.

College athletics isn't any fair.
Never has been.

Is it"fair" that Rutgers get $50m(?) in media revenue to spend on athletics while UConn or Temple get a fraction?
Rutgers has the money to just waste $2.5m on failed defensive coordinators?

Amusing that the "fair" argument never comes up when every other aspect of college atheltics spending.

Sad but true. Let’s be real the student-athlete no longer exists. It’s all about the commercialization of college sports. Yet why are the fans supposed to pay for NIL? Are New England Patriots fans expected to buy tickets, merchandise, concessions, etc. plus write separate checks to pay the players?

New England Patriots fan don't pay extra "donations" for season tickets either.
Or write separate checks to pay for practice facilities or jet fuel.
"Report: New York Giants want to fire Daboll but dont have the money. Front office is looking to the fans to donate money to fund it."

Why are fans supposed to pay for NIL?
Because they are supposed to pay for every other expense of college atheltics.
Name an expense that fans are NOT supposed to pay?
Why is being asked to pay for Schiano's jet fuel somehow noble but paying for players the downfall of society?

If you have an issue with the "commercialization", that happened decades ago.

You forgot to add wasting 6 million on the failed/fraud head coach. That’s the elephant in the fish tank.
