My example doesn't really have anything to do with whether it was a good idea to paint the flag on the street in the first place. I would actually agree with both of you that it probably shouldn't be there because, whether intended or not, in this day and age, it's a divisive symbol.
My point is regarding the reaction to it only. Even if someone is opposed to everything Trump represents, if a sane, well adjusted adult sees someone wearing a MAGA hat, they don't start screaming at the person. Same goes for if someone opposes everything LGBT. If they see a pride flag on the street, they don't risk literal arrest and criminal charges by throwing a can of paint on it or doing donuts on it with their car. If you can't acknowledge that both of these things are unhinged behavior, then you're part of the problem.
@fatpiggy wants to point out all the examples of unhinged lefties, like this type of behavior is exclusive to one side. That's the problem these days. Neither side is willing to acknowledge that they have their own crazies.
