He showed flashes of offensive prowess this past year. He hit some tough floaters and was semi-consistent from 3. He shot very well from the FT line and he wasn’t a turnover machine by any means.

He’s a solid player that wasn’t great at any one thing but didn’t hurt you on any one thing either. He now has a year to turn a few aspects of his game up a notch.

Very excited to have him back. He’s the type of player that still leaves despite not being ready or even being a 1st rd pick which seems to burn us once or twice every year. It’s crucial to return his type of experience back.

Since some people were listing him as a possible transfer in a thread last week . I guess this puts it to rest .

Absolutely a good sign to see, but also keep in mind the Green situation. Came back forna 2nd year, we have a loaded squad thinking hell be leadership, then leaves early into season due to playing time. If we get Herro or Johnson back, Quickley will go back to being a back up and as long as he's cool with that, we should be fine. He won't start over Hagans or Maxey, but as a hopeful returning junior hed be the 99% shoe-in starter that year. That's assuming a lot, I know. Green really threw a rench in my comfort level with returning 5 star players.

I think we will be fine . The one thing with Green is they were definitely thinking about transferring last off season . I know some bought into the fact that he wasn’t but I don’t believe it at all. His mother even basically said it was a thought .

At least with the guys coming back so far this year there have not been any real rumor of them considering transferring .

Quickley will be our sixth man.

IQ can replace Hagans at point: Maxey, at wing guard, and
replace Whitney at wing forward.

He will play 30 min a game.

great great kid. hope he stays all 4 years. work on getting quicker to get in the lane more. and become a 37%-40% 3 point shooter. great PG backup, lucky to have him

Boston, wouldn't you say he's the player that UK was hoping Quade Green would be? To me he's exactly the perfect fit--they wanted a multiple year guard to pair with their elite guys. Type of guard who helps NCAA Winners--which we've seen with Nate Britt, Villanova teams, UVA's addition to Clark, etc...Quickley is better then Green in every aspect outside of shooting. He isn't great at anything but he's not killing you on defensive end and can actually pass the ball. Need to have players like him on your roster with the small ball looks and his FT shooting was a huge bonus that didn't hurt you late when he's in to defend the small ball teams late.

Some 5 star players are not 5 star players.

Plus we all know Cal loves his 6'3" to 6'4" combo guards. IQ passes that test and has shown the defensive/rebounding prowess to warrant a permanent place in Cal's rotation.

Once it became clear that Green couldn't run an offense, he became a liability due to this lack of size. As you noted, IQ is in a different camp.

With his growth over the latter part of last season, he could catapult into major contribution next season

If Herro/KJ stay in the draft, we're going to need guys like IQ to take a major step us from a scoring standpoint.

Maxey and Whitney will probably give UK 12 to 15 points/game. Hagans likely pushes into the double digit scoring camp. Sestina will be good for 10 to 12 points/game.

We're going to need two guys from the EJ/Nick/Brooks/IQ conglomerate to give us 8 to 10 points/game.

he could be the guy that gives our teams some consistency for several years. solid player. great kid. athletic , will play good defense. make smart plays. wont be a star, but a great option off the bench.

i was never in love with green. dont like shorter guards. if you are going to that limited size wise you better be built like a bulldog or score it like a flamethrower. green wasnt and isnt any of those.

Huge, huge news. He was like 1/6 in the Auburn loss, but he was never afraid to shoot. The moment wasn't too big for him, which means it's just a matter of the game slowing down and learning to be consistent. You can't improve if you're scared. He's not scared.

He also has a 6'8 wingspan, which means he can guard 3 positions for us. Low ego, low usage, versatile, can shoot it, good athlete with great length, and the right mindset for a place like Kentucky. That's the dream guy you bring in and build continuity with.

A lot of years, he starts for us. And we're frustrated because he had an ok year. We're also praying he comes back because we know he'll be good as a sophomore.

Kind of gets lost in the positive news because of the guys going pro and the guys coming back. But it's a huge return.

Really don't even feel like we need Herro back. Our guards are set and we got a plethora of high quality sgs.

Obviously I want Herro back. But I like others think Maxey is gonna be better.

yep absolutely huge. smart kid. he reminds me of some of ku’s old athletic guards like chalmers. of our lesser contributors i was most excited to see quickley return. he was mostly solid and not afraid. we’re ultra deep and athletic on the perimeter now.

I worry about having consistent low post scoring next year. History suggests we are going to shoot poorly in the Elite Eight round and need some low post scoring to supplement that. I think Siesta and EJ can provide that but it looks like the team has everything else.

I am excited about Quickly coming back. He is the player that will get us to the final four next year. I didn't mind at all when he came in the game. Seems like he was as good as anybody out there. He is a perfect fit for UK. Maybe turn out to be super good. Don't forget he won the 3pt shooting contest.
