It’s fun to dream.

But right now I’m just hoping we don’t go into the crapper next season.

Pike needs to score some big wins in the portal. It looks like he’s going to have minutes and shots available so no excuses. Just get some scorers.
Agree - but this is an unusual situation - both players are marginal to make it to a an NBA roster at this point and a huge 2022-23 could make a huge difference - and they both seem to like it here. Wishful thinking - but add a shooter (which is not hard) and we have one helluva team.

The key word is “if”. The op wasn’t saying they will but if they do that would be great. But if not than best wishes to them. And I would think we would need 10 shooters and a 6 backup centers even if they do come back haha

With those two on the team we were in the play-in game, lost it, and went 18-14 overall. It’s good to be a positive fan, and you’d definitely need to be to think that losing Geo from that group and gaining just one good player would transform that team into a top 5 team..

The OP makes a great point. But several responders cynically focus on a misspelling of the word roster. Cynicism is a disease.

IMO, Ron is done. If he came back I think he could realistic be an All American but it’s time. He needs to dedicate himself to his body and that’s easier to do at the pro level.

As for Caleb, he’s different story. He could be a 3 and D guy in the league with more work. He has the size and can obviously play defense, but not enough offense. If he was committed to 1k 3 pt jumpers per day he could improve his situation with another year. I have a weird feeling he comes back. He sees the cupboard is bare and he might like the challenge or sharing the team with Paul.

Btw, the other thing to remember is that the last 3 seasons have been exhausting for them. Really really exhausting. Being on the bubble and playing THAT many must win games is mentally draining. You hit a certain point where enough is enough and it’s time to do something different.

After watching many of these games (and I fully get it is a long shot) if Ron and Caleb come back, add in a point who can shoot - and this is a top 5 team. what a year it would be?
Why would it be a top five team when this year they were not even ranked in the top 25 teams? Its highly unlikely Harper will return and for Caleb, playing a additional season without Harper and Baker doesn't seem like something he wants to do.

Correct. He’ll probably be a second round pick, end up in the G League, work on his body and look to find a way to the League in a year or two.
It would definitely be awesome to have Ron back but I just can't see how he improves his stock by staying. He is already 21 years old and there are many players in the NBA who are younger than him.

Chris Duarte was a lottery pick last year at 23/24 years old

Ron could be a first team all big ten player and big ten preseason player of the year honor next season, all american 2nd team, if he comes back, and I’m still not sure that would make him a first round pick after the season...so I think he goes..

I agree. And I think the COVID season really sucked for all these guys.

I was surprised when Kofi came back, so Ron returning would not be a complete shock.

It's more his stock can't get any lower if he returns for another year.

Same as Luka Garza returning for his senior year.
Or Kofi returning over and over to Illinois.

Leave and maybe be a 2nd round pick (or even undrafted) or stay and be the BMOC again and rack up more conference/national accolades.

Originally I would put the chances at near 0% but I think there is a chance he stick around.
After analyzing the draft a bit it is very deep at the forward/guard position. I think all nba teams know what Harper can give them and I don’t know if any type of season next year changes much.
With that being said it seems like Ron really cares about Rutgers and getting a graduate degree is a very good opportunity. Was Jacob young really going to do anything at Oregon to elevate his draft profile? He decided to come back (probably that Nike money or opportunity to play in a good o system).
I think people are writing it off too soon. While not likely I do see a scenario where it could happen. Who knows? I don’t think any of us thought geo would be back

Poor Kofi.
It's almost a greek tragedy at this point.

I don't think anyone has ever declared for the NBA 3 times (assuming he declares again after this year).

Sadly he seems to currently still be projected as 2nd/Undrafted.

Not really buying that theory. They’re 22 years old not 80. It’s just emotional for the fans

Have you been living under a rock the last two years?
Do you have any idea what these players went through last year?
"it's just emotional for the fans?" Where do you even come up with this.
