With only Askew coming in does Cal sign another point guard? I know Boston and Clarke could play some point but any injury to him for any period of time might be hard to overcome.

I personally wouldnt mind watching Clarke do what Hagans and Maxey do from the top of the key on offense. I think hed be just fine.
If Quickly doesn’t return, we will need another guy that can run point.
I like the grad transfer thought.
The team with the best guards has the best advantage, so hopefully we have another trio of guards next year like we have this year to go with the 3's and 4's we will have.
But, putting the ball in Clark's hands up top, sounds good to me too.

I'm not concerned. Boston would be a better lead guard than anybody we could find now barring a decommit.
not sure if it was him but I think I read that we were going to wait until Kansas got the death penalty and then just cherry pick whatever we need from their roster.
He's not going anywhere.
where would he going. If you think he is getting drafted, then you need to watch other teams. There are probably 50 guards that shoot a better percentage from three.

I love what he does for this team but he is not an NBA pg.
Quickley is so gone it ain't funny if he keeps this up . And he should be IMO . But yes we will sign a grad transfer pg or find a diamond in the rough for his back up ( a top 75ish type guy) . Clarke and BJ could play some pg in a pinch too especially BJ .
But that is all based on Quick keeping this up . He could falter and be a 3 year player but you better believe he came here thinking one and done but it didn't work out . I also think people forget how well he passes and can run a team but with his shooting we use him only at SG .

Don’t really disagree with this. However, although he started the season shooting poorly from 3, he has improved, and seems to be trending towards being a damn good shooter
Would need another PG. neither Clarke or Boston are players who are equipped to be major minutes point guards as freshmen. Even top freshmen who play point guard all their lives struggle in year one, man fans forget it and think you can just plug any wing that has handles into the pg position and the team will be fine, then it happens during the season and when they don’t do well those fans jump off a cliff

I think we still need a bigs more than PG. I feel like we can survive with Boston, Clarke, and Askew.

Does handle it well but Cal might want Boston playing Quickleys role on offense.

Quickley is not on one single mock draft. He's shooting the ball well from 3-point range right now but there are many other things that NBA teams look for that he is not great at right now. Get sick of trying to push guys out that would not even be mentioned going to the NBA at other schools.
That's because it's only been few games he's played to his level. If he sustains it, he will get on board.
And no one is pushing him out. Everyone is recognizing his great play
Start enjoying watching players play and then they are ready to dart out the door. Hope Quickley returns as our leader next year. There are so many players in college that are bragged on every time you turn around, like Nwora for instance, but nothing said about them being gone.

Tons of guys can shoot who don’t make NBA. They’re other requirements unless you’re a JJ Redick.
IQ would do well to come back and prove it again next year. Hope he stays 4 years. Like Ulis, his stock will be the same regardless of when he leaves.
These past few games that he's had is helping UK win games but is NOT moving him up draft boards.
He's shot the ball well but he hasn't exactly been Malik Monk.
He's also done zero in our win streak to show he's an NBA level PG.
There's at least 10 guards in the SEC alone that would be picked ahead of him.
Would love to see IQ return for his junior season! Hope it happens. That may or may not be the thinking of IQ, his family or his coach, however. We have watched many moderate players enter the draft whether they were ready or not.

That’s kinda the thing though. If his stock isn’t going to get better, history has shown it’s quite likely he will give it a shot. People seem to forget every offseason of the last 10 years. I mean good lord, how many sophomores have we had leave to go undrafted our late second round? It’s just what happens now.
Now that said, Quickley was one of those guys that just seemed like a huge Cal and Kentucky fan from the beginning and it’s quite possible he loves it and will stick around.
I think the plan is for Quickley to come back and be starting PG with similar skills as Brandon knight. He won’t have to score as much as knight but I think Quickley will need to become a PG to improve his draft stock
You must not have been paying attention the last 10 years. Quickly is easy better than at least 10 other dudes that left without a guarantee and ended up overseas or in the G-League.
Quickly has a ceiling and if he continues to play like he has the last few games, he's going to get noticed and if that happens, he better go.
I hate it, I want kids to stay, but he has better measurables and talent than guys like Briscoe, Aaron Harrison, Andrew, Teague, Lamb etc…
Quickly reminds me a bit of doron lamb in that he’s just a great college guard, his size doesn’t lend himself to being drafted high.
He’s doing tremendous things for us now and I believe he’s going to get better and better but his only chance is to show he can play point at a high level. Right now he’s a way undersized nba two guard and won’t get him drafted.

LOL what? This is UK man. You don't have to actually prove anything in your time at UK. All you have to show is potential and measurables.
UK is a farm system for the NBA, Cal trains these guys to be pro ready and NBA guys know it. If Quickly continues to play well and has a good tournament showing, he's gone.
It's been proven for 10 straight years.

There are definitely better guards than him all over the country, no doubt, but UK is tied to the NBA's hip. We have pro days and we coach these kids to be NBA ready, so don't be surprised when Quickly heads out after the season. NBA guarantee or not.

How could anyone say IQ is better than Lamb or Harrison either on the court or at the combine.
That's twofold.
IQ has been seen by NBA scouts a lot more than other players.
The fact that he's not on any mocks speaks volumes.
He's not one of those kids who will get himself drafted by showing out at the combine all Hami.
