If Quickley leaves do we sign another PG

IQ’s BIG year is next season running point! He has to show the scouts he can do it. With him, Boston, and Clarke manning the backcourt, are you kidding me? He’ll have the chance to average 15 and 10 easily. 40+% from 3, 90% from the line? That’s LotteryVille!

Those that say if he is not NBA material now he never will be are crazy. The point guard that leads UK to a national championship will go in the first round. No doubt about it.

No, nobody is crazy, just smarter because we have seen it with our eyes the last ten years.

Again, it doesn't matter what these kids actually accomplish in college. The NBA is looking for guys with athleticism, length and upside. Quickly is not much different than about a million other guards. He doesn't have elite athletesism and he doesn't have crazy length. He's a guy that will play in the NBA for a year or two, unless he works incredibly hard and overcomes his lack of elite athletesism.

Also, he wouldn't actually LEAD UK to a title. UK doesn’t play that way. Even AD didn’t LEAD the 12 team to a title. He dominated his position, but we won as a team. Even if he turns into Shabazz Napier or Kemba Walker, it won't matter, Cal runs a system that doesn't allow one guy to dominate a whole game.

And I'm the guy that said Quickly would not improve his draft stock by returning, because he is what he is, his upside is limited because he doesn't have Ja Morant athletesism and he doesn't have crazy length.

The only way he improves his stock is by running the Point. If he is going to play off the ball again, he probably should leave. I hope Cal gives him a shot at running the Point next season as a Junior.

Quickley is not on one single mock draft. He's shooting the ball well from 3-point range right now but there are many other things that NBA teams look for that he is not great at right now. Get sick of trying to push guys out that would not even be mentioned going to the NBA at other schools.

I don't see him leaving, either. I think he comes back, where he and Askew share minutes at pg. Remember, Askew should only be a HS senior next year, and I like the idea of him coming in and learning the role, without pressure. Then he takes over his soph year.

So quickly is a guard who has hit ONLY 21 total 3 pointers on the season and we have people thinking hes going pro? Jesus people there are big men who have hit more 3s

I wish Quickly success but I wish we had Askew and Sharife Cooper as our point guards next year. We need two and I wish Cal hadn’t gone all in on Cunningham. Clarke and Boston aren’t point guards so I hope Cal can find a talented backup that can shoot and keep dribblers in front of him.

where would he going. If you think he is getting drafted, then you need to watch other teams. There are probably 50 guards that shoot a better percentage from three.

Exactly. Quickley is an ok shooter, not a good one. He's not overly big for the SG. And he's not a true PG, he's a combo guard. Looking at past UK players, the closest comparisons are Jeff Sheppard, & Ramel Bradley.

With only Askew coming in does Cal sign another point guard? I know Boston and Clarke could play some point but any injury to him for any period of time might be hard to overcome.

Probably to Quickley to decide.

He's not going anywhere.

If he keeps playing like he has he's gone. Cal has never returned an MCD AA PG as a Jr. It would be amazing if he did return, but he's really tearing it up late so I'm sure he will have a decision to make.
