FWIW, down south there are some very formidable teams that could be bad matchups for Wilmington and Reed-Custer should those teams go south.
In 2A, Maroa is loaded after a sub par season (by their standards), Tri Valley returns several key players from last year and look to be rolling early this season. Bismarck-Henning is also no push over, barely lost to Nashville last season and return most key players. El Paso Gridley is also a team to look out for. And don't forget about St. Teresa
In 3A, East Alton looks solid as of now but have a rough schedule ahead. Prairie Central is also loaded and continue to take care of business, should end up 9-0 in one of the toughest conferences in the state unless they get beat by 3A PBL who continues to improve as the season progresses. Of course you have Mt. Carmel (the town) who looks better than last year, and although not south, Stillman Valley may end up in 3A, which is another hurdle for the typical 3A teams. Williamsville also has one of their better teams in recent history. Their game vs MF on a few weeks will tell us a lot about those teams. Tolono Unity is also right there as well.
It may be week 5, but they season is just getting started! Both classes are loaded with talent.
Not trying to hijack the thread, just wanted to add some info on the southern teams.
