He was playing the SG position this year, and was the worst shooter in the history of UK basketball.

If you don't get some of the unrest, you are mentally challenged.

He played the 3 & was a pg before he got here. Where Murray played out of position & without the ball, he was still allowed to score. What he does best.

Briscoe didn't have that luxury.

Soooooo...yeah he'll be just fine at his natural position.

That has nothing to do with what you said. You said, in a nutshell, all the haters were baseless....

The worst shooting guard in our history, and it's baseless?

no, its not. I like Isiah, I do, but let's not pretend you don't understand it.

If he comes back he cannot play SG for us to be effective unless his game changes. He will be more of a SF which we do need.

You cannot win anything meaningful with defenses collapsing off the ball because your shooting guard can be left wide open. Its called a SHOOTING guard, for a reason. People wonder why our offense couldn't hit anything today? The spacing is awful and the flow of the offense was worse This all had a lot to do with several factors, Briscoe being one.

BINGO - I said the exact same thing...he's built like a tank and though a little undersized, we'll have plenty of bigs to spread the floor and attack next year.

No, it has everything to do with what I said. Lol.

Did he shoot in the 30s? Nope. Did he defend well? Yep. Did he pass well? Yep. Did he rebound well? Yep.

So if there are basketball watchers who base their analysis solely on shooting, then I guess that's all the argument you need right?

Those guys don't really know hoops though.

So, I guess that's where you fall.

It's pretty baseless hate imo.
I certainly don't dislike Briscoe. In fact, I assume he is a nice guy and in my opinion always played hard. I just don't think he was a good fit for this team. His defense was very overrated and he only scored on layups. He shot 13.5% from the three and 44.6 % from the line. I hope he goes pro because if he stays Cal will probably play him over the freshmen we have coming in. I think he would be wise to transfer but I don't think he will.

I've heard that Briscoe is all likely gone.

I would say there is less than 10% he's coming back.

We all know once these players do certain things after the season then they will be ineligible to return. The person I know organizes these "events" ...

Briscoe wasnt a bad shooter jamal, he was a GOD AWFUL. It takes away everything. Did he shoot in the 30's? Son, take away layups, and I'm not sure he shot 8%. Shaquille O'neal laughs at his free throw shooting. You are really trying here, but it won't work. Briscoe was below average this year. Horrible on the offensive end, collapsed our sets, was a decent defender, and a good hustler. Thats what it is. Now you can try and debate, lie, mislead, or whatever makes you feel better about him and your original insane stance you took, but it won't change the facts.

Pretty sure the rules changed and they can test waters now, but still return

Lol...if you take away layups? That's new.

Why would you take away high percentage shots. It takes skill to get those shots and earn them.

Horrible on offense? Nope again. He penetrated, finished at the rim, passed, and got offensive rebounds.

Just admit to having a limited understanding of basketball and walk away.

As I've said before he has a lot of limitations but I have a hard time getting on him. The guy came in highly rated and gave up his normal position, one he was rated the best in the country at, and took on the garbage man role without hesitation and played with nothing but grit and gamers attitude from the start. The guy didn't miss shots on purpose and knows more than anybody he needs work, but the kids a winner as far as I'm concerned.

As an IU fan, I was thrilled every time he was on the floor. It meant we could play 5 on 4. Have some pregame respect for your opponent, no matter who it is. Enjoy your offseason, Isaiah.

How can we fairly judge Briscoe when he was playing out of position all year?
There is no way in hell id play Briscoe at PG all game. I'd use Murray or even Dom before him. Each and every time he took over PG duties this year the offense absolutely stalled. He would stand up top dribbling and no one would move. He's not a good PG but he's sure as hell not a shooting guard. He's a very short, poor shooting SF.

If Cal said scouts love his game then he's greatly exaggerating to prop up Briscoe. Nobody in the NBA wants a 6'2 guard who would easily be the worst shooter in the NBA and has very average athleticism. At UK I'd rather have Teague than Briscoe.

If Briscoe comes back then he's coming off the bench. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is keeping Fox and Monk out of the starting lineup. He could possibly start at the 3 but I don't see him beating out Gabriel or Willis for it either. And if he happens to leave then he goes right next to Orton and Harrow on my favorite Cal players list. If you come here, don't contribute much and actually hurt us in our last game and are a big reason for losing, and then go to the NBA after that one season then I have no use for you and hope you don't show up around UK anymore.

Players just don't "get" a jump shot. Either you can shoot or you can't. Can he improve, sure. Will he improve enough to where he can kncock down 3's on a regular basis, no!

Let me tell you about a guy, his name is John Wall.

Or let me tell you about a guy, his name is Rajon Rondo.

Or let me tell you about a guy, his name is Jason Kidd.

All he has to do is put the work in. The form on his shot isn't bad. No elbow flare or awkward form. Solid follow through.

If he leaves who plays back pg? Or even SG? Monk and Fox can't play every minute. So if he leaves we need another guard. I would like to see briscoe back to be a leader to the young guys or maybe 5th year transfer. As far as his shooting goes. Who could've fore seen him being such a bad shooter. He wasn't that bad of a shooter in high school. I think I saw he shot in the 70's from the ft line. So maybe he could find his stroke.

He was inconsistent but he was a freshman we have been spoiled by so many great freshman that we expect all of them to be great in their first year . I do wonder how did he win a 3 pt contest though

Briscoe was a good shooter in high school so he doesn't have to get a jump shot, he has to get it back. There is a difference. I think he put on a good amount of muscle and struggled to adjust

Hawkins can back up point next year. He was one of the pleasant surprises in the Indiana game. Maybe the only pleasant surprise.

If Briscoe goes NBA....just another one and done that wasn't really an above average college player at UK and leaves a bad taste in fan's mouth.

Let this sink in...Briscoe got on a hot streak to lift his FT % to 44% by years end. He shot a rousing 136% from 3pt land. I don't care how good of a defensive player you are...you simply can't shoot that badly or hustle that much to justify those stats as acceptable to land in NBA. To not come back to college and improve your game after being easily the worst shooting guard in history (includes guys like Turner, Rondo, Hawkins, Saul Smith for pete sake, etc..)...it just is un-easy for some fans to accept Cal's get kids to NBA mantra when 1/3 are not even very good college players and we just hoard in another new bunch of kids every year.

Hardly any appreciable percentage of fan base has an issue with Murray going pro...but guys like Briscoe and Skal you see a fair percentage really not cool with it. These kinds of reasons are why.

Look I like Briscoe but there is not a huge difference between Dom and Briscoe. I'm not sure I wouldn't rather have Dom.
