How can we fairly judge Briscoe when he was playing out of position all year?
hell, I don't know...might be right.

You're dreaming. Not in a million years is that going to happen. And his basketball IQ is not what you're saying, and no it won't be the highest on the team.
Dude.
Well if you said it than it must be true.
Ulis really stepped up between year 1 and year 2 and I believe Briscoe would have a similar transformation. Briscoe has his faults but I don't understand all the hate against him.
It's pretty baseless hate imo.
He was playing the SG position this year, and was the worst shooter in the history of UK basketball.
If you don't get some of the unrest, you are mentally challenged.
He played the 3 & was a pg before he got here. Where Murray played out of position & without the ball, he was still allowed to score. What he does best.
Briscoe didn't have that luxury.
Soooooo...yeah he'll be just fine at his natural position.
Really!! It's about Bricoe. Nothing to do with the front court.I think his lack of offense is the reason the season is over. 3 great offensive guards can carry a team to a championship with limited post play but not 2.
If he comes back he cannot play SG for us to be effective unless his game changes. He will be more of a SF which we do need.
You cannot win anything meaningful with defenses collapsing off the ball because your shooting guard can be left wide open. Its called a SHOOTING guard, for a reason. People wonder why our offense couldn't hit anything today? The spacing is awful and the flow of the offense was worse This all had a lot to do with several factors, Briscoe being one.
That has nothing to do with what you said. You said, in a nutshell, all the haters were baseless....
The worst shooting guard in our history, and it's baseless?
no, its not. I like Isiah, I do, but let's not pretend you don't understand it.
I certainly don't dislike Briscoe. In fact, I assume he is a nice guy and in my opinion always played hard. I just don't think he was a good fit for this team. His defense was very overrated and he only scored on layups. He shot 13.5% from the three and 44.6 % from the line. I hope he goes pro because if he stays Cal will probably play him over the freshmen we have coming in. I think he would be wise to transfer but I don't think he will. It's pretty baseless hate imo.
No, it has everything to do with what I said. Lol.
Did he shoot in the 30s? Nope. Did he defend well? Yep. Did he pass well? Yep. Did he rebound well? Yep.
So if there are basketball watchers who base their analysis solely on shooting, then I guess that's all the argument you need right?
Those guys don't really know hoops though.
So, I guess that's where you fall.
I've heard that Briscoe is all likely gone.
I would say there is less than 10% he's coming back.
We all know once these players do certain things after the season then they will be ineligible to return. The person I know organizes these "events" ...

Pretty sure the rules changed and they can test waters now, but still return

Briscoe wasnt a bad shooter jamal, he was a GOD AWFUL. It takes away everything. Did he shoot in the 30's? Son, take away layups, and I'm not sure he shot 8%. Shaquille O'neal laughs at his free throw shooting. You are really trying here, but it won't work. Briscoe was terrible this year. Horrible on the offensive end, collapsed our sets, was a decent defender, and a good hustler. Thats what it is. Now you can try and debate, lie, mislead, or whatever makes you feel better about him and your original insane stance you took, but it won't change the facts.
[laughing]Lol...if you take away layups? That's new.
Why would you take away high percentage shots. It takes skill to get those shots and earn them.
Horrible on offense? Nope again. He penetrated, finished at the rim, passed, and got offensive rebounds.
Just admit to having a limited understanding of basketball and walk away.
:joy:
Glad You do.
There is no way in hell id play Briscoe at PG all game. I'd use Murray or even Dom before him. Each and every time he took over PG duties this year the offense absolutely stalled. He would stand up top dribbling and no one would move. He's not a good PG but he's sure as hell not a shooting guard. He's a very short, poor shooting SF.How can we fairly judge Briscoe when he was playing out of position all year?
Players just don't "get" a jump shot. Either you can shoot or you can't. Can he improve, sure. Will he improve enough to where he can kncock down 3's on a regular basis, no!
I think his lack of offense is the reason the season is over. 3 great offensive guards can carry a team to a championship with limited post play but not 2.
Look I like Briscoe but there is not a huge difference between Dom and Briscoe. I'm not sure I wouldn't rather have Dom.
