I'm still trying to figure out how team chemistry, defense, & Basketball IQ was better in Bahamas than now. Just extremely weird

I'm just glad that I don't seem to care as much as I used to.
This team isn't good at basketball and our coach doesn't seem to demand improvement.
After watching that 5-11 guy go for 30+ and not do anything to stop it (just like Kemba Walker, Shabaaz Napier, and others)
it's frustrating.
Don't change defense schemes, don't do anything but watch the ball CONTINUE to burn through the net.
Unacceptable

LOL. You've totally lost it. 9 wasted possessions shooting threes last night. Project it out to your 50 threes per game wanted and we'd have been about 17 for 50, with THIRTY THREE wasted possessions with no chance of a foul or easy points. But hey, all you want is personal enjoyment, seeing 3's jacked over and over. Go watch the NBA.
the evolution of basketball has passed you by, my friend.

Seriously? Maxey? Great player, but not the answer to our problems. He'd be having the same growing pains that the other young guards are having.

You guys gotta give this at least another 6 weeks. We'll know by early-mid January if this team has it or not. I hate waiting too, but that's the nature of the beast given how Cal constructs these teams.
maxey is a better scorer and player than anyone on this team. lmbo bad post

hey, its cool, you just aren't aware of how the game advances! you'll get there

We shot 4 for 17 in 3's against Duke.....not even 25%. How'd we do? We'd have lost by 60 had we jacked twice as many. You guys are making fools of yourselves.

If I were to be honest, I’m not quite sure either.

We’re not nearly as athletic as I thought we would be.

We have a lot of nice, solid, good players. I’m just not sure we have any explosive, athletic players that we can point to and say get him the ball in crunch time.

A Final Four berth would be a great accomplishment imo.

I’m just going to enjoy watching this team get better and better. If they don’t, there’s always next year.
That's what I thought a couple times last night, VMI is more athletic than we are? Good thing we had some size on them

Ok. I will say it. Cal sat in the bleachers down there, he has since got them totally screwed up, just like he did with Skal, the twins, etc. They are thinking too much instead of playing basketball. Our defense was 100 times better down there, but now they are trying to switch on every screen and they get lost. This is all on Cal.

So you think they knew how to switch screens in the Bahamas and then Cal caused them to forget? And then I guess he was on vacation and they remembered against North Dakota and forgot again for last night's game?

Or how does this work? If it's all on Cal, what did he do?

Some of the stuff on here is beyond laughable. I remember watching the Bahamas games and wondering if the teams we played were paid off in advance not to try. The competition was a joke.

I think a lot of the problem is the 2015 parallels. People assume that because '15 played well in the Bahamas and then went 38-1 that any team that plays well in the Bahamas must be similarly talented.

Turns out, if you've got a bunch of high major D1 guys against these teams who don't want to be there, you'll look pretty good.

Cal said as much himself when he said he threw too much at them. I am just agreeing with him. He also said he screwed Skal up. It is amazing what you can see if you watch the games without blue blinders on.

Big issue with us as fans as I see it, is last year we kept telling ourselves maybe by March this team will be a contender in spite of watching horrible basketball for pretty much the entire year. Had a nice run in the SEC tournament but still turned out to not be a factor in the big dance. 2 of the last 3 years we haven’t been a contender. This year we all kinda thought we weren’t going to have to suffer through terrible basketball early on. But here we are.

They are not even close to being a top 5 team yet. This offense is awful if they keep it up they will have 7-10 losses and a 5 seed maybe a 4 seed.

The defense will come but it's the lack of ran offense I worry about.

Hard to get a line on this team...it's really too early to be writing off a FF appearance. Having said that, do we have a guard as good as SGA? Do we have a forward as good as Knox? I think not.

We do have some guys with offensive skills who should improve with experience...Keldon, Herro, and E.J. most notably. There's still plenty of upside here.

Maybe, maybe not. That Fox squad let UCLA and Carolina hang a hundred on them and fans were distraught over the defense. Later in the year we lost three out of four to Kansas, Tennessee and Florida (by like 20) and fans were ready to write that year off.

Now we refer back to it as a team that would have won a title if we hadn't gotten Roofaree'd.

I don't think we have the top-end talent to be *the* team in the country, but again, how many times does that team win it? It was Duke and Arizona last year. It was Duke the year before. There really wasnt anyone like that in 15-16 but Carolina was the favorite because they had depth and returnees and then Nova beat them in the title game.

We're right there in that mix of teams with a chance to win it. We have different guys we can go to on a given night. We're going to round into a good defensive team. We have guys who can make open shots even if they aren't right now. We have depth.

So we're not perfect or supremely talented, but there's plenty there to make us as much of a contender as anyone besides Duke, and we've seen how they've handled being the most talented.

It's not even Thanksgiving yet.
Fox and Monk were much more talented than this backcourt by a factor of about 10.

Nobody on this team like Bam. That team went 32-6 and lost to the eventual champion on a last second shot.

There's not a guy on this team right now that can affect a game like either of those 3 from that team could.

They seem to be playing kind of tight to me. Seem to be forcing things instead of just playing basketball. Maybe the thumping they took has had more of an effect than I think.

And they had their moments too when they sucked just like this team is doing. They are thinking too much! Between the Duke game and all the negative fan support it’s got them to thinking too much and not letting the game to come to them!

There is no comparison between this team and the '15 team. Absolutely none.

Amazingly, the '15 team lost a game in the Bahamas. You had Dakari Johnson who could not be moved off the block. WCS and Towns who usually owned the lane. Lyles was a mismatch for any team they played. Twins, Booker and Ulis.

Just no way anyone on this team gets clock on that team.

Flash back to Bahamas.. Would you say Maxey is a better option than anyone on our team?

The college game exposes all players short of the elite recruits. No chance did any poster think Maxey was better than KJ.

Maybe not KJ, but I would have suspected he might be better than Hagans.

I can almost guarantee we're going to say the same thing about Maxey, this time next year.. "oh can you imagine if we had RJ Hampton" or whoever. So many of these guys have their flaws exposed.. And we all assume that the next guy will be different. Very rare to find Wall and Davis, or RJ and Zion.

I suppose you’re right. I guess my point was, Hagans didn’t jump off the screen at me in the Bahamas nor does he now.

Some of ya'll are such pussies. And I'm not talking about the OP and others who have legitimate concerns -- I'm talking about the ones that just can't stand it when anyone has anything other than blind praise for our team.

Pussies cry when fans defend their team.

Concerns me that PJ is a hit and miss. One game he’s on fire and the next he’s just getting through to the horn. I think maybe he’s been hurt. Not reading too much into the first 4 games. It’s Calipari for crying out loud.. He’s a master in March and April..!

Nonetheless, I think this team has all the right pieces and it’s early, so I’m excited to see how much they improve.

Well, I’m the old school guy that thinks players shouldn’t even be on Twitter. Unless you can tell me something positive that comes out of it.
Never had twitter, never wanted twitter, will never have twitter, twitter is about as useful as tits on a boar hog.

The nail just needs to cheer for the Cards. He must be about 12. It’s waaaay to early to decide things about this team.

One thing that we are trending toward is being at the bottom of shooting 3 pointers again. I had imagined that Cal had decided that was bad since Michigan Villanova was a battle between teams that scored a lot from 3. I guess he doesn't want to be like them.

I will pretend you have quit posting on this site.
