When Mexico writes us a check for $5 billion, then reopen the government. Until then, keep it shutdown.

They are saying that this should be a separate negotiation, just like the GOP said when the Dems held things up for DACA. So the Dems are saying that we should open the government, then negotiate a deal on the border.

Except they said they wouldn't.

They said they would on nat TV. Now it appears we have partisan stories coming out of yesterday's planned circus. Maybe they should televise the next "negotiation". That sure was fun last time.

What exactly were they asked. I heard it was if they would give him money for the wall within 30 days. That was a no. The guy is supposed to be a deal maker. Making deals doesn't amount to making a demand, then walking out when it isn't met. If he's going to back out of deals that he sends Pence to make, then he needs to spend the time to work on them himself, work being the operative word. Has the DACA trade been offered up this round?

Not on the table. It's $5.7 bn for the wall in exchange with nothing. The Dems and moderte Rs agreed to more wall money last year in exchange for DACA, but the WH and House Rs blew it up. What's the incentive to negotiate with such a flip flopper (Trump)?

Plus moderate Rs are going to side with the Dems shortly.

It failed because of distrust. The idea was to control flow of migrants first. And fix the loopholes that permit migrants to game the laws. With out that in place first, granting status to those who got here through the cracks in the system simply inspire the next wave. Those who are here already are in numbers too great for the courts to process. And a bigger caravan has reportedly begun to form south of Mexico. Practically impossible to strike a deal when neither party trusts the other.

Dems are just playing the game like Trump is but I think it's advantage Dems right now.

Going to be interesting to see who has the bigger stones. Never seems to amaze me how quickly things can change these days.
