if Cal had punished Boston and sat his *** for bad shots and half assed play in the first 2 weeks of the season.... his act might of straightened out and got him to understand that taking good shots within the offense helps draft stock and being selfish hurts it... but Cal and his retarded lack of discipline just hurts Boston in the long run

I think it’s all about Boston’s NBA stock.

It’s clearly SO important to Cal that he produces NBA draft picks every year. And since Boston is his highest rated pro prospect, he thinks he must give him the most minutes and shots no matter what, come hell or high water.

I think having a kid who was projected as a top-5 pick go undrafted is one of Cal’s worst nightmares. He’s deathly afraid of losing his reputation as the NBA star maker.
Bingo.

As for the buyout the best thing for MB to do is meet with him privately and tell him it’s ok if he wants to go elsewhere . That he will give him his best recommendation that it’s really not in the best interest of the school for him to stay . Ask if he’ll give at least six months notice ?
And tell him we appreciate his time here but it’s just no longer working out .
We can’t afford a buyout but its really in our best interest if you relocate.
Do that and he will go of his own accord as soon as he locates another school to take his NBA factory to .
LOL. You’re dreaming. You know, Cal is no longer considered the hot commodity he was a few years ago. Do you think there’s another job that will now pay him nearly as much as he still owed on his UK contract?

If not, then there ain’t no way he’s leaving this year without a $52.5 million buyout check.

Cal obviously isn't concerned about tearing Mitch's heart out,..and it makes sense.

Cal was waiting for the call from Mitch when Mitch called Gillispie.

I guess Cal doesn't feel like he owes Mitch anything.

Well there you have it some hearts are more important than others, I didn't catch the whole game but Boston was making a some bad passes and losing the ball some in what I did see. He still played more minutes than Allen who was doing really well when I was watching. He babies some and others don't matter, if you can't hack it, get your jacket.

Excellent take UK90, very thought provoking.

Really, when you look at the big picture, that scenario is, most likely, the top of many reasons we suck so terribly.

Bingo mfer exactly. Fox was right. He don’t care about winning games. All he’s interested in doing is developing players that need multiple years in school. I swear I think he’s getting a kickback from someone. At any rate, it’s time.
...so you're saying Cal's no longer your hero?

BINGO!!

To Cal, BJ's future is MORE Valuable than Dontai's. Therefore, BJ can screw up WAY MORE than Dontai and stay in the game, even if it means LOSING. So when Cal starts SPEWING all of his TIRED cliche's again, you know it's just BULL CRAP!!

I don't see why people are confused by Cal's comment. De'Aaron Fox spelled it out for everybody in that Barstool. KSR article where he stated "Cal doesn't care about winning games, he cares about getting players ready for the NBA".

So UK is paying Cal $9 million/year to help the NBA instead of winning games and Championships. Let that sink in.
This is not anything new unfortunately, I said this a long time ago and tried at the time to call out Cal on the whole "it's a players first program ..." stuff. Of course I wanted our program to be known as one that took care of our players futures & put them first, but I always maintained if that's the case then why is it that seemed to be focused almost solely on the guys who had a chance to be mega millionaire?

Now I'm not calling Cal a hypocrite. I truly thinks by doing that he is fulfilling some kind of calling. It's just a misguided calling built on the false premise that the only way to happiness is a mega million dollar NBA career. Youth, college experiences, education & all other paths to aa successful life be damn.

Because it’s never actually been a players first program, instead it’s been an “NBA prospect first“ program. Players who aren’t NBA prospects tend to get the shaft in Cal’s program and would generally get better treatment elsewhere.

“Players first” was nothing more than a marketing slogan Cal came up with for recruiting purposes.

What was the stuff about Calipari blaming social media for his inadequacies?

Well Cal also attributed ALL his success over his illustrious career to “white pRiVlAgE” so that’s a bit of a conundrum. I guess social media meanies are more powerful than the all mighty white privilege.

I do wonder. If all of Cals success is because of white privilege and not his talent, hard work, determination and grit over the first 25 years of his career then what is the reason for his unsuccessful seasons? How does that work exactly? Does white privilege pick and choose when it’s going to be a positive or detrimental?

Cal is talking out of his *** and has been for a few years. We all literally know his mission, per his own words, is to get young men (not kids) to the NBA and “change generational poverty.” Winning games and having success at UK is just a positive byproduct of that. If it happens? Great! If not then oh well.

He was asked why Allen and Toppin didn't start the second half and answer was he wants to win every game he coaches but doesn't want to take their heart away.
I dont know who trips over their tongue the most , Matt Bevin , Donald Trump, or John Calipari. LOL. [Before this thread turns political,I’m about as hard core republican as they come ]

Fox said years ago that Cal doesn't give a damn about winning games...just getting guys to the league.

That’s how I took it. And thought this was the most pathetic, telling response I’ve heard from Cal.
That's not the whole quote though. He goes on to let everyone know he puts Allen at the end of the bench with the likes of ware and fletcher. Sounded like him getting more playing time isn't much of an option let alone a must.

He basically just meant he doesn't want players to give up trying to come out of their slumps.
"I'm trying to win every game I coach and I have to juggle things like this. I don't want to do the wrong thing and lose a player for the rest of the year."

To the Cal nut huggers: what MORE PROOF do you need ? From Cal's own mouth, again: he's telling you he WILL play his 5 star golden boys ahead of guys who, you know, actually give us a chance to compete and win.
Allen played more than his fare share yesterday. We didn't win.
Boston had alot of good moments yesterday. At this point nobody is gonna give him an ounce of credit no matter what he does well.

Sorry but that's a load of BS.If Boston is so weak minded that putting him on the bench will destroy him then he needs to go,You talk about not wanting him to lose Boston but what message does this send to the others? This does nothing to get players like Allen,Toppin,Ware and Fletcher to stick around.I Wouldn't blame any of them if they hit the road next season. But it's okay because Boston's feeling aren't hurt.

Cal has an obligation to every player on the team. He's killing all their draft prospects this season

I didn't say this. I was letting you know what cal meant. There's alot of speculation on what it meant ,but that's exactly what he meant

Well then it's odd that you chose Bevin and trump as examples and not Biden, y'know, the guy that can't put two coherent sentences together.
