What a stupid idea this was. The Big Ten could have just had them throw out the first pitch and sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at a Cubs game, and then play the volleyball game at the United Center.

When it was first announced, I assumed the match would be in the afternoon. Wind might have effed that up, but at least a windblown set doesn’t tear someone’s ACL or blow their Achilles.
Trying to play in the evening on a hardwood court was just dumb.
So are they done with all the bells and whistles and ivy and from here on out its games in Lincoln or regular campus away games ?
I assume AD knows he is getting fired within the next two years and needs a big "resume builder" to get his next job. Trev had the largest woman's sporting event in earth history and it got him a plush job at A@M, Dannen forces playing at Wrigley and it fails miserably. Couldn't happen to a better AD.
Imagine how all the Husker fans, that probably took out a second mortgage to pay for the trip, must feel as they hitchhike back home?

Sure looked like they had fun during the breaks. No doubt most did more in Chicago than go to the matches. They can say they were there in Wrigley. I doubt many are all that pissed. IF you buy a ticket to an outdoor volleyball match you better assume this was a very possible outcome.
STFU . Cook was the one that suggested the memorial stadium game at the time. The game at Wrigley would have been fine if it was played at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
Yep the first game There was no issues until the end . If this would have been 1 o’clock and 3:30 scheduled it would have went off with no problem.

“I think there are opportunities to do some incredible things for volleyball. I do not think outdoor is what we should be doing.”
I am not disagreeing with her , but Nebraska played an outdoor match in memorial stadium and there were no issues. The match before Nebraska-Mizzou had no issues until the end . If the game’s were played at 1-3:00 like o said in my post there would be no issues. It was just the timing of the matches at the location that was the issue.
For paying customers, an outdoor venue is a freaking ripoff as some seats are way too far from the court.
Other than the novelty of saying you went to this event, a person would be stupid to attend.
Exactly same thing when Iowa wrestled Okie State in Kinnick 20 years ago.

There were hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in a match that could have had wind and/or rain issues at Wrigley earlier in the day. Made no sense to me. Hold it at a football stadium with a retractable roof.
