Yep, if I'm making the case for Hurley coming to UK, it's pretty thin. The only thing UK could really offer beyond what Hurley already has would be more money, and UConn is about to get very close to our offer, I bet. (and Hurley likely appreciates UK's public offer for that very reason- he will get paid in a big-time way) But if I'm making the case for him staying there, it's pretty much iron-clad. Why leave a place you've spent years building and now you've won back to back titles when it just means you'd have to basically start over, with a demanding and rabid fanbase over your shoulder? And when you're a northeast guy, Storrs is where you want to be- why move south to the rural people and the mountain people with whom you have almost nothing in common? I would imagine the only place Hurley would actually go from UConn would be an NBA team (Knicks, Nets, Celtics) if he is so inclined. Otherwise, he's staying right where he is.

Oats hasn't explicitly said no. His AD told UK they won't negotiate the buyout amount. He's still an option if Donovan again says no, or if Mitch goes to him before waiting on Donovan next week. Just need to be ready to pony up the dough.

Hurley was actually a surprise, but he's revealing himself now as more of an arrogant "back east" punk who essentially implied with his "even with $20m it's not a good fit" remark (per one tweet) he's not coming to coach for a bunch of rednecks (many people from that area fully hate southerners).

He wasn't using us for a raise, that second national title took care of that, he has no interest in us- and honestly why would he? I have a feeling this search is gonna humble a lot of fans

Saying no to a microphone well before anyone at UK has even mentioned him as a candidate or asked if he was interested is not a no.
A "NO" is when we sit in front of him or his agents (or both), lay out the deal, he consumes the offer (including the buyout), makes a full informed decision and says NO.
He said no, and if you think MB wasn't making contact and putting feelers out there with agents all those days during Cal's violin exit, you're dumber than i thought you were with that post of yours.
