He is going to miss more than he hits with his legs scissored out like that, but he hit that one. And yes you just have to laugh, he also had a career high last night, which Kentucky has seen from numerous players. No one can say Kentucky ever sneaks up on any team.
At least the refs now have the kick out foul rule. If they can parlay that into an offensive foul or no call if the offensive player creates contact such as slamming into a player that's simply standing in his defensive position or jumping straight up and they jump into them in a ridiculous shot pose, I'd be happy.
As stated above, one of my pain points with today's "physical" game is the way many offensive players draw a defense into a shot fake then jump at an angle into that player to create contact that wouldn't have happened if they simply shot normally - as in straight up and down. But we see this time and time again (and several times last night) - player A head fakes, our guy falls for it and jumps straight up arms up, and the player A takes an absurd angled jump into the player to create the body contact. No ref should fall for that as there's no reason for a shooter to flail and angle-shoot into a defender in the air.
Now if the defender falls for the pump fake and lands on the shooter, or contacts the shooter going straight up for the shot, that's a different story. The defender clearly created the contact.
I could go on and on with this topic as it burns me up, but alas I'll pause....
