How long until Florida falls off the map?

Rick Stansbury often had elite talent at Miss. State but won nothing because he was a terrible coach. Johnny Jones may be worse. I'm also not convinced that Simmons and Blackeney will be a better duo than Martin and Mickey.
I'll give you Howland, Pearl and Cal of course but the rest of those guys you listed have not done much yet. Plus I'd put Georgia's coach over Martin and Kennedy lol. And Barnes, well like I said, I am skeptical he can reel in enough talent to cover for his lack of coaching ability.
Jeremy Foley has hired numerous coaches at Florida in many different sports that went on to win SEC titles & National titles with the Gators. These are some of the recent ones:

Foley will find someone good to run the Florida basketball. Usually, the candidate is a young, hungry coach that will take this great opportunity to prove themselves. Additionally, the state of Florida produces a lot of talent on an annual basis. The new coach will just have to lock down some of the top basketball talent!

FL has few laurels to rest on. If they don't get some significant success quickly, I think they'll pass out of the collective memory of the young candidates. I think quickly is about 4 years. After that, rebuilding will be a long process.

Just like UConn is slowly fading off the map - Although they won a miracle NC two years ago you can just tell they are falling off in recruiting and before too long they'll be a third-tier program. Kinda like what happened to UMass and Memphis after Cal left. My guess is that you'll see this stuff happen to several schools in the next decade like Duke, Michigan State, and Louisville to name a few. It happened to UCLA once Wooden left - although they had spotty success over the years and won the 1995 NC, they are not a true "blue blood" anymore. Same thing also happened to IU after Bobby Knight left - spotty success, but nothing like what they experienced under Knight. I believe Duke will see moderate success beyond K, but nothing like what they are used to. Probably be something like we experienced with Tubby - a good coach who wins 76% of his games, has his teams ranked in the top 25 (usually in the 15 to 25 range), but isn't going to get to the Final Four very often (if at all) and someone who will see recruiting steadily decrease over time.
There have only been three programs who have been able to sustain success beyond legendary coaches and throughout the decades - UK, UNC, and KU. Those three programs will always be who they are because their pedigree is so strong. It's like talking about Notre Dame, Alabama, and Oklahoma in football.
BTW, I, for one, hope Florida stays up where they are. Some UK fans may be happy that this may spell the end of Florida's successful run in basketball, but those same people would be wishing for the good ole days again when, three years from now, the Florida rivalry isn't what it once was. I loved it when we'd play them in the O'Dome (and vice versa). It was always a rowdy atmosphere and you never really knew if we'd win the game, so if we did win it made it that much more exciting.
ok so you list the top three schools in wins as the only three that can sustain it but the number 4 team in duke has no chance? Hahaha ok... Based on titles we have surpassed Kansas and have for a while and we are tied with UNC. I don't buy it Duke and UK are the top two programs in the country ANY coach would leave wherever they are for those jobs
Talent-rich state is right. Most people don't realize how big an in-state recruiting base UF has in all sports. I don't expect a strong year because remember off a team that didn't even make it to the NIT they lost two players who decided to turn pro and one that transferred. It will take time to rebuild but the state produces a lot of talent.

Isnt that cute. Florida basketball is a joke now. Cal, Pearl, Barnes, Howland, Martin, and Kennedy will beat florida like a drum.

Florida will be fine; they have too many resources to not be. Florida SHOULD be better than Kentucky at all sports that's not basketball. Large population + near a beach + large endowment = success. My nine-year old nephew could coach Florida to wins over Kentucky in most sports; they have a significant advantage. Like one expert said "there is no excuse for not being elite at Florida".
Not Bilas, though. He doesn't give a crap about that stuff, and he's smarter than all of them.
I get you guys giving the Gator fans a little bit of a ribbing, but seriously - the level of antagonism in the thread seems a little miscalibrated. It's not like we're talking about a Louisville hire - and if Florida is 3rd or 6th best in the conference, it really doesn't impact us. I'm actually excited for some of the good new coaching blood in the conference. Howland and Pearl going forward should give Cal a slight push many years, and the rest of the names should do just enough to maintain a couple SEC schools in the lower part of the top 25 (a couple between Barnes, Martin, Stallings, maybe Avery and the A&M staff).
Where will the new Florida guy fall? Probably behind Howland, Pearl, and Barnes, but it's not really t hat big of a deal to me.

Agreed. Even ESPN reported that Billy grew tired of recruiting against Calipari. Out of desperation, he had to take screw ups like Chris Walker. Then add in Pearl, Barnes, Howland, things were looking very very worrisome for the already 16-17 gators

You never know coach K is swiftly reaching 70 years old. Whoever replaces him will dive like a submarine!!!
