Btw, the Big Easy smoker by Charbroil is the bomb for smoking large meats like turkeys or hams or wolverines.

Write in vote for roasted on my Big Green Egg. Get some of that good wood fired flavor without really being smoked per se.

We have 18 folks headed to my place in DFW tomorrow. My son in law has a kick *** smoker in his back yard and will smoke a 20lb for us. Our other 20 lb will be cooked at my place the traditional way. We have tons of sides and for dessert we baked 2 home made apple pie ( apples picked in Pa this past season) Pumpkin Pie, Southern Chocolate Pie and finally , a Texas Pecan Pie. A very important part of our guest list is a family of 4 who very suddenly lost their Dad. They were with us last year as well.

An oft-repeated line recently in the LionJim household: “So glad we got the fresh turkey and not the frozen.” It’s really worth the extra expense.

Most definitely agree. One of my buds would set me up with a fresh one from New Oxford in York. Major upgrade.
