Why would it be huge? He will be stuck in the same ancient system the rest of these guys are.

I am beginning to think it is more than an injury. Could it be grades ?
It must be more than a calf injury at this point. I thought Brooks made the SEC honor roll last year and was close to a 4.0 student in HS? I could be wrong on this, but if it is grades he must have really had a bad semester

And that tells you all you need to know about Cal's priorities.

"You’re grades aren't where they need to be, so you have to sit… .. but you still get to show off your skills during pro day."

Or

"You're too injured to play the first month of the season, but pro day is too important to miss, rub some dirt on it and lets go."

Every time we come up short in the tournament: "if so and so wasn't injured, we would have won the whole thing"

Whenever a player is out injured (Vanderbilt, WCS, now Brooks: "there's our missing piece, our Savior, when he comes back, we're going to crush erbody"

We never learn. Every year we think we have a juggernaut, just like this year. All summer we thought this team was going to be unstoppable, now that we've been slapped in the face, somehow it's not Cal's fault. Haha.

Brooks had one good game last year, he's a role player. He's not better than Sarr and especially Jackson. He's a backup, but he's also a Cal recruit, so I expect Sarr will sit and Brooks will get his spot. Then, some will wonder why players constantly transfer out of here. "not Cal's fault, uh uh, no way".

You may be right i am just guessing. If it is an injury it seem like it is taking a long time to get over it. With all the great Dr.'s and trainers there seems like it would not take that long. OF course we don't know the extent of his injury.

Can someone answer this question:
Did Brooks participate in this year's Pro day? If so, did he reaggravate the calf/leg injury?

Every year we hear the same ole ****. As soon as XXX is healthy we will be a completely different team and dominate. My guess is he will get his 8 points and 4 rebounds IF he does come back but judging from the past and how Cal drags these mystery injuries on I would say there’s a good chance he doesn’t play this year. Good thing he was able to do the NBA workout so Cal can sleep at night.

Because he’s not really hurt. That’s the only explanation.

I don't think Cal is going to completely risk this season and possibly his career by keeping Keion out. We STILL don't quite know what happened with JV. But even if he/Cal did opt to sideline him to prepare for the draft, that was STILL a different year.

When we're 1-3, Cal can't afford to let his only experienced guy sit and rest. It might legit cost us a post-season and what might turn out to be the most talented recruiting class we've had in a while. We can't waste that. And if he does? He deserves heat for it.

But let's not jump to conclusions this early.

Unless Brooks can pass the ball, it won’t matter at all. Nobody on this team can pass the damn ball. Can’t get shots/scoring opportunities without that simple skill

I agree. Who does he take minutes from on the front line? None of the starters, that's for sure.

Probably steals Wares minutes on the second unit.

This is a no brainer, he will get Sarr's minutes, know why? Brooks is a Cal recruit that he used his NBA sales pitch on. Sarr is just a guy that was looking for a place to transfer to.

I bet it happens.

Cal has no investment in Sarr. He does however wants to get Brooks drafted.

Yup, the fact he is too injured to play the first month and a half of the season, but was miraculously healthy enough for pro day, tells you all you need to know about Cal's priorities.

I'm surprised he let Allen and Sarr in the gym during pro day.

I don't hold out much hope for him I don't know why he is not playing but I don't think he was that good last year for everyone to be putting all their hopes into. He could be a good player but he will never be a great player

On offense PF is a dead spot that position hurts us lack of shooting, passing and can’t take guys off the dribble. On defense other teams can drive on our current PF options.

Brooks may not be one of the top pf options but he’s what we need. We were at our best with 4 guards/wings last night. We need a pf who can pass and play outside so Sarr can post up and our wings can drive. It’s also going to be a huge boost getting 30 minutes from Brooks vs Ware, Fletcher and Toppin.
is he going to handle the ball so someone don't have 15 TOs

I hope Cal shortens the rotation once Brooks comes back. He looked a lot better towards the end of last season especially shooting the ball. I don't think he'll be a stud, but he'll be a solid contributor/rotation piece.

Once he's back, I want to see him, Mintz, Clarke, Boston, Jackson, and Sarr, getting thee majority of the minutes (moving Clarke over to 1 to be the backup PG when Mintz is out). I do like Toppin at times especially with foul trouble to get a few minutes here and there, but I think Askew, Fletcher, Ware, and Allen, shouldn't see the floor much unless we get in foul trouble.
