I kinda like Rupp Arena as the name. What’s wrong with that?
They'll cash in on advertising dollars if they change it, so BBN won't make the cut.

Not as disappointed as the massive cut in support and money .. it more of the " killing the goose that laid the golden egg " stuff .. Just leave the Rupp name , The Rupp family , The Rupp legacy , all of it ... LEAVE IT ALONE . and stick your cancel culture straight up your *** .. un lubed .
I don't want it it changed, but I know the facts about Rupp. But I think a lot of you are completely underestimating the power of media and perception when it comes to racism, particularly in this moment in history. It won't be caving to the Left and BLM, but more accurately not being able to afford the stigma of fighting it and being labeled a racist school. That's the thing about activists, they don't have to be right, they just have to shout lies long enough and loud enough and eventually it becomes 'true'.
Yea, I don't think you get how this works. Fan support and engagement has been dropping for a while, across all sports. They are already anticipating more drops. The program makes most of it's money off advertisements and tv deals. Neither will be greatly impacted.
I am not advocating for the change, I am just telling you it's coming. I have no issue with Rupp, but when these things get started, they always end with a change.
UK and people within the program will put these little tidbits out to allow people to vent and voice frustration. Slowly and slowly more mention of it comes out and support grows. The people who were anti change begin to accept that it will occur. They begin to rationalize conditions in which they will accept the changes under. The change eventually occurs and life goes on for everyone. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I understand your point but it absolutely is caving to the left and BLM. Until people and organizations take a stand, the BS will continue. We all know it’s white money behind BLM. Black citizens will wake up soon enough to know the left has nothing in store for them but more of the same.....entitlement programs that keep them poor and disadvantaged. Rupp Arena should remain with no apologies.
It's too late. They already sold the naming rights in January on a contract that's locked up through the year 2033. So there won't be another chance to cash in that way for a good long while.
Contracts can be voided and often have clauses and language for certain situations like these.
