Never underestimate my ability to be ignorant. That said, I’ve seen no one on here ever say they are ok with losing 12+ games. Literally ever. The fake uk fans that show up? How did that go over your head lol

Well, he did. That would be fact.Btw I don’t know about talking about the losses, but we’ve had some of the Pope can’t go guys saying he won 20 games in year 2.
That’s some crazy sht right there.
I’m saying the guys that pretend to be uk fans are happy we lost that many. Not everyone on this board is really a UK fan.Never underestimate my ability to be ignorant. That said, I’ve seen no one on here ever say they are ok with losing 12+ games. Literally ever.
If he loved UK he would resign and maybe help find us a great coach to get us back top againJust stop getting personal with Pope. He loves Kentucky. Calipari doesn’t.
Maybe Pope works out, maybe he doesn’t.. I’ve already gone on about he’s been more successful his first two years, than Golden and Hurley were their first two years at Florida and UConn. Everyone just ignores these facts.
Quit getting personal with Pope. Be patient. Florida and UConn were with Golden and Hurley. It paid off.
Maybe it will with Pope also. We’ll see.
7 seed in St Louis is not bad.
Remember, Calipari in his 15 seasons here, missed the tournament twice. Lost in the first round twice. And lost in the second round twice. Despite, overwhelming talent every year.
Cal has been at Kentucky for almost 15 years and won a title here. Maybe the love is lost but to question Cal not loving this program in spite of the last couple seasons is sad. Meanwhile your boy Pope played for 3 years and is only on his 2nd year here. And the way he acts isn’t exactly filling me with the love that people claim when they say he “loves” program. He might very well love it, but he sure as heck doesn’t show it.Just stop getting personal with Pope. He loves Kentucky. Calipari doesn’t.

Because Cal just won the SECT while we can’t even get past the quarterfinals with the dope we’re forced to call head coach. This Cal obsession is weird as hell. What does he have to do with us sucking this season?
Agree..on Pope. Calipari was chit here his last four seasons. Garbage. Star studded rosters of course, but, went 9-16, no tournament. Then lost in the first round to St Peter’s. St Peter’s? Are you kidding me? Then lost to freaking Kansas St in the second round, despite KStates best player only able to play the first 3 minutes. Awesome.
Then lost to mighty Oakland his last season. Yep. Mighty Oakland. Calipari had two lottery picks, and lost to mighty Oakland. Screw him.
Pope won two tournament games his first season here, which doubles the tournament wins Calipari had his last four years here.
His posts are all over the place. He's way more like Chris than Tony.I really think the OP is on drugs or an alcoholic. Don't get me wrong, I hit the sauce pretty hard of late but not to his level. I'm jealous.
Looking back at our postseason finishes, I believe this is the longest drought without an Elite 8 since Kentucky basketball even became a thing with Rupp.I don’t get it? What’s this mean? Kentucky averages nearly an elite 8 half the time throughout history. We remain top ranked most of the time, we lead in the vast majority of NCAA categories, and we routinely play in finan fours / win SEC titles. That’s the standard regardless of who’s coaching so I’m not understanding what this all means.
Kentucky played musical chairs with BYU and Arkansas. We lost. While BYU and Arkansas improved, we’re somehow worse than when Cal was here. It sucks, I get it. But we don’t need people acting like Pope is a caterpillar in the process of becoming a butterfly. Problem is he’s developing into a moth chewing the remaining life out of our program. And Cal no longer coaches here. We both moved on.Cal was stagnant and the Pope hire feels like crap. Both can be true at the same time.
I was against the hire when it happened then got behind him after the pep rally but it's not going to work.Kentucky played musical chairs with BYU and Arkansas. We lost. Cal is winning the tournaments and recruiting battles is all.I don’t know why Calipari has anything to do with it? Calipari sucked and had to go, Mark isn’t qualified and is setting records at UK for everything wrong. Given millions and millions of roster money, still sucks. Worst recruiting we’ve ever seen. Guy can’t recruit anyone with a pulse. Took Calipari 7/8 years to achieve how many blowouts he has in less than 2. Bizarre press conferences, crazy lineups that make no sense. Playing on wednesdays in the SEC tournament. What does Calipari have anything to do with it?
I mean, I’m not getting it?
so get crap rosters and lower expectationsThe reason why people dont wanna hate on pope is because his rosters dont have the same expectations that cal did
It should have been time for Mitch to go. He was the BIG problem. It like having a boss never support you, never want to hire you to begin with and then never take up for you. Any of us would have not liked our jobs.I appreciated Cal, but it was time for both parties to forge new paths independently.
My analysis of Pope has nothing to do with Cal. I simply evaluate based on success and what he says in both the good times and bad. Love him for what he did as a player here. He will always be a CAT! Year 1 was fun and a semi-success based on what he walked into. Honeymoon is over though. We regressed, period. Leash is short. Pope Fatigue is setting in. Can he rebound? Yes! Will he? TBD
Oh Pope ain't working outJust stop getting personal with Pope. He loves Kentucky. Calipari doesn’t.

My wife and I just got back from the sec tournament. She doesn't watch much basketball but even she could see that he was lost and not coaching like all the other coaches we played. We were lucky to beat LSU without there best two players.Just stop getting personal with Pope. He loves Kentucky. Calipari doesn’t.

Mitch should have been fired after Gillispie and joker. It is 100% fact at any serious SEC institution he would have been canned right there. My father told me when Mitch was hired when I was in middle school, that outsider is here to keep the booster and basketball guys out of affairs. They better watch him. And man was he right on the money. Mitch was brought in to stop the network that built Kentucky basketball. I don’t know why anyone is surprised, this is the result. It should have been time for Mitch to go. He was the BIG problem. that's what we are currently doing lolso get crap rosters and lower expectations
No they actually said it like, “he got a sweet 16 year 1 and he’s won 20 games year 2”. Using it to pad his resume.Well, he did. That would be fact.
Now if someone said winning 20 games is more than enough for me every year, I’d be concerned.
Definitely should haveMitch should have been fired after Gillispie and joker. It is 100% fact at any serious SEC institution he would have been canned right there. I guess some of these guys are ok with thatthat's what we are currently doing lol
They just don’t want to be coached by Pope. It’s that simple. No one respects that man. Not the media, not other coaches and certainly no players. His own team probably doesn’t respect him. He’s a pushover to the extreme. Coaches are probably thinking “Him? You seriously hired him to be your coach, Kentucky?”Zero chance UK got outspent on every one of these players. Just no way. So if UK didn’t get outspent, why didn’t/haven’t we landed a single one of these guys?
- Tyran Stokes – No. 1 overall recruit
- Christian Collins – 5-star forward
- Caleb Holt – 5-star guard
- Deron Rippey Jr. – 4-star point guard
- Brandon McCoy – 5-star center
- Tajh Ariza – 5-star wing
- Jason Crowe Jr. – elite guard
- Jordan Smith Jr. – 5-star wing
- Tay Kinney – 4-star guard
- Bryson Howard – 4-star wing
No trying to be a wise guy, but I think the issue is that a large portion of the fans do have that conclusion . HOWEVER, a large portion of the fans have the conclusion that Cal was going through a rough period for a variety of reasons and was still the coach for the job. However, neither group of fans will respect the others opinion and instead it has become a name calling I told you so conversation. Why is it so hard to reach the conclusion that it was time for Calipari to go and Mitch whiffed on his replacement? Why must it be either/or?
