Good thing.... if this is as far as Trev got in 60 something days its a joke. For the record, I think he already has his guy.
I think you’re right. BUT you can only agree in principle to a deal even if it was Rhule. The university rules still apply.

I still haven't seen any proof that DeBoer was ever a Husker fan. He didn't grow up in or play for Nebraska, so I don't know why Nebraska would be his dream job.

Washington has the resources and facilities to match Nebraska. Their stadium has a great atmosphere. Most people would rather live in Seattle than Lincoln, NE. His daughter just committed to Washington for softball. Easy to recruit talent there on the West Coast.

Sean Callahan reported it on TOS, and repeated it today. I guess you can choose not to believe him, but that is where the information came from.

I just talked to a guy that knew him in Sioux Falls. He said in fact that he was a Husker fan then. You don’t know if he would take the job unless you ask.

If you know that for certain, then tell us who it is.
Trev is too competent to not already have the person ready to sign and the terms of the agreement met. When the season ends the rest of college football will start the coaching carousel. The only reason you fire that early in the season is to get a jump on the competition. I do not know who it is, it could be one of the people mentioned. But to think this late in the process it is down to 5 is absurd.

BOB is the guy with the best resume if Rhule isn’t in play.

I agree that Washington is currently the better job and Seattle would be a better place to live. You just asked the question why he would come here, I was just trying to provide some possible answers.

Seattle is a mess right now. That right there would be a reason to leave UW

I don' t know, there's a lot of smoke that Rhule was the guy, but that the deal fell through just this past week. Hopefully that's not true, but if it is, then Trev is left scrambling.

Seattle isn’t the better place to live, Maybe better than Portland of the Northwestern part of the country but that’s it..

If you make millions of dollars a year like DeBoer, Seattle is a great place to be. It's beautiful up in the Pacific Northwest. I'm sure he lives in a great neighborhood that is isolated from any of the problems there.

TOS is plane tracking and there's a pretty convincing argument that it could be Fickell...

You ever seen where Bill Gates lives? It‘s like the batcave inside of a hill and surrounded by ex- Navy seals 24 HRS a day..

I would assume out of that list you would only be excited for one.

That would be Fickell. But even he isn't a "big" name.

No?
Klienman ain't coming. Won't live in the NU bubble and can retire comfortably @ KSU. Fickell ain't leaving Ohio. That leaves Monken & Leipold. Both could be good but are underwhelming. If it's down tp those two give me Mickey.
LL is way above Mickey. We are 3-9. Keeping Frost might have led to 4-8 and maybe 5-7. Mickey underachieved. Peter principle in play - good guy with good morals and good recruiter but not going to change a losing culture, sorry.

I think Luke gives me a boner

The rest not so much.

Monken would be amazing if he came here and ran the triple option for 2 reasons.

1. So many Husker fans think TO ran the triple option but he didn't
2. It would be amazing to see them embrace it until it did not work and then freak out.
The excuse would be he just needs 10 years to get his guys in there.

Bull$&it those players were going to quit trying with no motivation just like how the defense played against Oklahoma with Chanander..

I would be pretty disappointed with the two kansas guys

all the others on here are intriguing

Well at some point it is what it is...FWIW I called Lombardi, Shula, Tom Landry, and Madden and it went to voicemail so I guess we have to settle a bit.

Who does Trev have the closest relationship with? That’s the new HC, I would say. It’s someone that he’s been in contact with for a good while.

Whatever, can't fix stupid. If you believe Micky underachieved you're an absolute idiot and know nothing about college football.

No, he would not bring it, maybe some concepts of it, which makes sense.

BUT...I don't love the idea of hiring a guy who is very good at doing one thing only to not have him do that one thing at the new place. Now, he may very well be amazing with another type of offense but it would be like hiring Carrot Top to perform but telling him he can't use props.
Yeah, but Carrot Top sucks even with props.

Let's hope not, because the coach he has the closest relationship with is Jeff Monken.

Mickey was in an impossible situation and in my opinion, he did an excellent job given the cards he was dealt. He kept the team together, they fought in each game, they are just overmatched in key areas. Not saying Mickey should be the new HC but we could do worse. Shoot, given all that went on with coaches and injuries, he still won two games or half as many as Frost did in his best year.

I don't think Trev had his guy ever in this process. There are just too many moving parts to all of this. Coaches who are working with teams that are competitive are working 16-20 hours a day. It all takes a long time.

All thr talk about a splash hire is ridiculous. I don't even know who that would be, Saban or Urban but Urban has a short shelf life anywhere so no way. But that is me. I want a long term guy who is going to be around for a long time. The question is are the fans going to be willing to accept 6 and 8 win years with occasional trips to conference championships because that is the new reality.

seems there's been a bit of a groundswell recently

I can't think of a better fit
I've been clamoring for Fickell from day one and all I hear is "he's not leaving" or "he won't go to Nebraska" but this is exactly the kind of hire we SHOULD be expecting! Get the GD money out and pay the man!

No way in hell frost beats Rutgers… Chin would have still been trotting out the defense that scares no one in America. Frost doesn’t win another game. 4-8 or 5-7? Funniest thing I’ve read on here today.

I was at the Rutgers game. We won due to one pass from CT to TP. Other than that we sucked. Having said that - Chin sucked as was one of the major reasons that Frost failed.
