than knight in college basketball?
I mean, Dave Bliss covered up a murder so he's up there.
than knight in college basketball?
That's the crux of why he looks so bad in retrospect.Epitome of, Do as i say, not as I do. Such a hypocrite.
In history sure. Joseph Stalin and Adolph Hitler come to mind. Alexander the Great did some terrible things.
In college basketball, maybe Dave Bliss.
You just lowered the IQ of the board 20 percent
Knight was horrible and never could stand him. I'd also give a vote to Dean Smith as I never could stand his stall ball tactics and, after all, he did usher in the cheating at UNC that they still get away with. Don't know that he treated others like scum as Knight did though.
Yep. Cheating is low and detestable, but at least you're trying to win. Physically and verbally assaulting players and people is a whole different level of wrong and makes you a POS coach and person. There's a difference between a coach you don't like for perceived cheating or because they win at a high clip. It's another when a coach is caught choking a player. Cheating is nothing compared to physically assaulting a player or covering up a murder. Those are actual series acts.
I assumed this topic was about JesusCal......it’s not? This JesusCal dude needs to be banned. There’s clearly something wrong with him.
The difference is, Knight got busted on tape physically hitting players (right about when times were changing). IU gave him a slap on the wrist and a last chance, and Knight was too stubborn to change. I agree with the hard line mentality, to a certain point. But Knight ultimately leaped over that line, and was really just a POS individual. His legacy became his shortcomings as a person, not his achievements as a coach and leader.I actually thought Knight was a good leader and great coach. His program turned out quite a few solid young men.
His style of leadership wasn’t really that uncommon in yesteryears. Times have changed, he didn’t, but I’m not sure it wasn’t better before. I’d guarantee guys like Rupp had a pretty firm grip on their operations and kids walked a fine line too.
I'm just curious, did this "great American" ever return to Puerto Rico to serve his six-month jail sentence for assaulting a police officer? Did he ever apologize to that guy he got into a fight with at a restaurant, or the assistant coach he kicked out of a chair and then fired, or the guy he stuffed into a trash can, or the Indiana employee that he punched out, or the secretary he launched a vase at, or all of the other countless people he assaulted over the years? What about all of the players he bullied and beat up on (especially the ones whose crotches he'd infamously grab and squeeze)?
No?
Well surely he apologized for beating up his own son on a hunting trip, right? Pat's lucky, I guess, that Coach Knight only broke his nose and messed up his shoulder instead of shooting him in the back, like he did one of his former friends. I know that Coach Knight got hit with a lawsuit over that shooting, but were charges ever filed over him lying to the police over that incident? I wonder if it was the same shotgun that Dakich said that Knight would bring to practice after his players stood up to him.
That Puerto Rico incident was completely misreported the officer instigated the entire thing and poked knight in the eye
A lot of the other stuff is also exaggerated. Let’s face it if knight coached for Kentucky and joe b hall coached at IU the whole state would worship BK and detest hall. if you grew up in the bluegrass state you can’t be objective when it comes to knight because you all detest IU
BCG was on his way to achieving at least Honorable Mention in the POS category but flamed out. This is the answer right here
I think that Norm Sloan has to be mentioned as well. Sat across from the Florida bench during the 1982 SEC Tournament at Rupp and have yet to hear a fouler mouth that he had. Berated players in the huddle and one can only imagine what the locker room was like.Jim harrick, k come close as well as pitino
Knight instigated it by exploding into one of his typical hissy fits when the Brazilian women's team interrupted the last few minutes of his practice. The cop got up in his face after Knight called the Brazilian women's team "whores" and the cop a "n*****."
Here's what Knight said on the court after the game, after he flipped off the crowd while his players were carrying him:
"**** 'em. **** 'em all. I'll tell you what. Their basketball is a hell of a lot easier to beat than their court system. The only ****ing thing they know how to do is grow bananas."
Then he raised his middle finger into the air when the Star-Spangled Banner was being played and continued to rant and insult Puerto Rico for almost half an hour.
Do you know how many other coaches that debacle would've happened to? None.
Such a "great American."
If Joe Hall had been at Indiana, he wouldn't have assaulted or otherwise abused anyone, ever, so there wouldn't be any reason to really dislike him as a person. And if Knight had been at UK, his tenure would've been ridiculously short because he would've been shown the door after his first assault.
I was just getting ready to say you can't make some of this crap up but I guess some can.
