RHJ was 260lbs at the end of the season?
That can't be right.
Combine measurements might not help him too much.
Will be interesting where he measures out on some other keys data points like "height w/o shoes" and wingspan.

I just pulled up last years numbers.
260lbs would have put him 2nd overall
Even his current 247lbs would put him at 4th overall ahead of Luka Garza.

I hear you guys with the "why didn't he work on his body while he was here?" stuff...but I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. This is literally all he has to do now. No class, no exams, no papers, no living in a dorm.

Happy for Ron! But why the heck did it take til after he leaves to manage his weight in just 5 weeks! Lol

Good luck hope he puts RU on the map at the professional level
I must admit, I thought the same thing. But I really hope he makes the most of this and gets an opportunity. Maybe just being able to focus on working out/training without any distractions has helped him. Rooting for him!

That's what I'm thinking too.

And this is why the NBA draft is geared towards 18-19 year old freshman and sophomores.
The NBA and the players get all those extra years of development with no "college interference".

Sure the 18 year old isn't as good as the 23rd now.
But how good can that 18 year old be in 4 years with full time NBA dedication?

And how far off the rails can he go if he isn't ready or doesn't have a good support system in place? Can work both ways.

Bitter sweet to see Ron getting his body right

The correct answer is fat sandwiches people come on did you even Rutgers?

Hansel crisps were 🔥 though too
I thought about saying fat sandwiches but the real grease trucks are gone now.

Minor league baseball is a good data point. Most right out of school kids don't make it to the league. AAA may not be bad for some, but lower than that can be very challenging. The smart ones bank signing money for college and after baseball life. Others didn't have signing money and have to figure out what to do post baseball do struggle without a degree to fall back on.

I was skeptical that he'd be drafted, but this video was impressive. Not sure that his speed and quickness has improved enough, but if he shows that he can shoot the ball during the combine and team workouts, he has a shot at making a team. His release point seems fine during the first half of the tape, but seemed lower in the second half, imo. Wish him the best.

Pretty simple answers to a simple question. What shocks me is the same people asking it for 3 years now.

Anyone who has played sports knows the answers.

Actually many of the top 7 or 8 players coming out of high school every year turn out to be better as freshman than almost all the upper classmen in college.

Banging with the big bodies when at the 4 would be a good reason to keep the weight up.
Now trying for a wing position in the pros calls for less weight and more speed .
Thus lose the extra baggage and play at a lighter weight to add speed not needed heft that can slow you down
RHJ needed the extra weight to help Rutgers, now he needs to lose that in order to make the pros.

I don't agree with this post. Ron playing the 4 at 235 in the B1G would have been plenty of weight to bang with other 4's. Playing at 260 was way too much weight and would really affect his speed and quickness. Needs to definitely shed more weight to have a chance in the NBA.

I'd say Ron did pretty well in college
He did. Would have been even better if in better condition.

I was better at basketball when I was jacked and ripped and my cardio was excellent. The game is just easier when you are in peak condition.

Ron was an Honorable Mention All-America at Rutgers which means he was ranked among the Top 24 college players in the country and bullied his way to a lot of buckets this season. I think his body served him pretty damn well here. I hope we get a few more guys that out of condition in the future. The NBA and college are totally different styles of ball.
