Reports that Houston could acquire Tyrese Maxey + picks in exchange for Harden. Wall/Maxey backcourt?!

Getting rid of harden for any price is good, his contract is awful for what he provides - highlight reel shots with surprisingly underwhelming percentages, and doesn’t really play defense.

They might want to get rid of him to protect him. He keeps talking crap about the rest of the team and I would not want to do that if Cousins was my teammate.

Maxey, Ben Simmons and multiple 1st round draft picks is a pretty significant haul for Fat Albert.

Plus Houston has very little leverage, everyone knows they have to trade Harden.

Harden didn't have much leverage asking for a trade prior to the start of the season knowing he was still under contract until the end of the 2023 season. He could get out of it a year before that, but he'd have to turn down close to a $47.5 million salary on a player option for the 2022-2023 season to do. Him throwing the team under the bus yesterday is, IMO, his way to try and get a little more leverage to the point where the Rockets feel they have no choice but to get him the hell out of Houston at this point.

What an awful deal for Houston. Wow, this is bad.

Now if anytime can get his crap together there is nobody that is beating Brooklyn.

I figured they'd be lucky to get Simmons, Maxey and picks back from the Sixers at this point, but that deal is not just awful, it's laugh out loud awful. Dante Exum and Rodions Kurucs? Really? [roll]

Bad trade for the Nets, imo. You've got two guys who really need the ball a lot (KD, Kyrie) and then add the ultimate ball-stopper who plays no defense? Don't see how gutting your bench and future for Harden helps this team at all. Think the Nets really needed more lunch pail type of players who'll play D, get loose balls, grab an extra rebound or two, take a charge, etc. Not 'I'm gonna jack a 3 after dribbling 22 seconds of the clock away' James Harden.

IF all three of them work in Brooklyn that's a heck of a lineup. But you're adding a headcase to another headcase (Irving) and a partial headcase (Durant). This more likely ends poorly than well. Plus Brooklyn loses LaVert and Allen, two key players who were keeping them afloat when the stars weren't in.

Houston gets 4 first round picks and 4 pick swaps - unsure which ones belong to Nets and which one to Cleveland - any sort of pick or swap with Cleveland is good because they project to be bad for a while. Those can be packaged for another superstar if need be - they may already have one in Christian Wood, too. LaVert is low key the best scorer you don't hear about. Good pickup. The others are ballast.

Considering Harden's attitude, I don't think it's near as bad as the rest of you are saying.

EDIT: the PACERS get LaVert, Rockets get Olidipo. I'm higher on LaVert than Olidipo. But all picks and swaps are unprotected.

Rockets: Victor Oladipo, Dante Exum, Rodions Kurucs, 3 BKN first-rounders (22, 24, 26), 1 MIL first (22, unprotected), 4 BKN 1st round swaps (21, 23, 25, 27) Nets: James Harden Pacers: Caris LeVert, 2nd-rounder Cavs: Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince

Hope he ends up with the Nets, Kyrie comes back and they don't win another game this season!
This will actually be fun to watch. There aren't enough basketballs to keep all 3 of those guys happy. I can envision the internal bickering going on already.

Why in the world would they trade Levert for oladipo??

From the other thread:

All of those picks are unprotected as well. I mean holy crap what a deal if those picks turn out well or are used to better the roster via trades.

Yep. I mean, dont get me wrong.. Harden as a talent is worth more than that.. but not MUCH more than that.. and he was going to walk at some point anyways, while also nuking the team AND his trade value. To get Dipo, 4 picks and 4 pick swaps we can use at any time Brooklyn is ahead of us, is quite a haul.

Brooklyn better win at least two ships for this cause they will suck for a long time after this. Also glad they got wall/Boogie some help in return by getting Oladipo.

It will be interesting. Houston could very well be better for this. Wall has had a strong return, Christian Wood was on his way to be a strong MIP candidate. Oladipo was going to be a comeback player, he's been playing great. We probably won't do much this year, but it's not like we were doing much WITH Harden.

Ha, not at all. Although I would have preferred Ben Simmons, Maxey and a draft pick or two from Philly, it just wasn't going to happen.

This is about the best Houston could have asked for. We were below 500 with Harden, he was killing the team, and it wasn't long before his fat *** injured himself.

I'm pouring a glass of wine, as we SPEAK, in celebration!

Plus the upgrade on team chemistry makes a ton of difference in pro teams. I mean it matters everywhere but pro teams implode when they hate each other.

If Olidipo is that bad or hard to get along with, why would Houston want him?

Is he? News to me. Hes kind of going through what Wall went through.. Basically an entire season lost because of injury.. but he was on his way to being a top15 type before the injury and he's been great since he returned.

If there are any issues.. it might have been part of the deal. Take Dipo if you want 4 picks and 4 swaps. But I really don't think so.

Harden, Durant, Irving and Joe Harris make for one hellaciously talented offensive foursome. The nets certainly aren’t gonna have trouble scoring.

I don’t know if he is a bad teammate but I do know that it’s no secret he wants out of Indy.

Nets are going to eventually have to choose between Kyrie and Harden though. That’s going to be an awful pairing both by fit and chemistry
