I wouldn't mind having Hafley back. He seemed to be an excellent recruiter and he certainly had contacts and knew NJ well.
No.
The head coach should be your best recruiter. The assistant coaches should be developing the players.
We need to start fresh and move on from the past.
the best recruiters are the assistant coaches, they usually develop the relationship with the recruit, but the head coach better be able to seal the deal once the recruit is on campusNo.

Agree, we should start fresh, however, I don't agree with your assessment about the assistant coaches' ability to recruit.. They should be very solid to great recruiters, in my humble opinion, is there the guys out there in the field meeting most of these kids the first or second time, and the head coach needs to be a great "closer."
The head coach should be the closer while the assistant coaches are responsible for a location/state as a primary focus in attracting initial interest.Rutgers has to out work the competition to have any chance for success in recruiting and performance on the field.No.

Just wondering...where did you hear that?I don't see him coming back to college. Heard he was burnt out on recruiting.
Boy Hafley was a terrible DB coach. Terrible. But such an amazing recruiter. Was always a conundrum with that guy.
Same reason Wanny always seems to find new NFL jobs. They're charismatic people persons with good resumes. In Hafley's case, he got let in the door by Schiano when he had no business to be. But once you're in, it's easy to stay in. Jobs are always opening and closing. You know, I always heard this about him... then he went on to spend four years in the NFL as a secondary coach in some capacity.
Actually, he got let in the door by Wanny, who recommended him to Schiano. And now, he has built a network of coaching contacts from his days at Albany all the way to Cleveland.Same reason Wanny always seems to find new NFL jobs. And that's why I don't buy the round table. I know Jeff personally. They are just throwing stuff against the wall with this.Saw it on the Round Table a couple weeks ago. Around the time Ash was first mentioned as a candidate.
