Going through the list of dunk contest champions on Wikipedia and there was this:
  • 1998 (New York City) – None, the WNBA-NBA 2Ball Competition replaced the Slam Dunk Contest
In MSG the year after Kobe wins it and you cancel it for the WNBA?[sick]

Forgot all about Terrence Ross.

Nice character of the team to bounce back following a performance devoid of character on Tuesday. Bowden and Turner were a combined 3-18 and 0-11 from 3. Seems like they're always hitting big shots. Glad they kept shooting tonight.

Pretty good 10-1 stretch from the guys. Should be 11-0, but I think last year's team went 5-6 in a similar stretch, including 4 straight L's.

Does the beat down happen like that if we had cruised to a 7-8 point win over LSU? Never know, but I'm telling myself the loss paved the way for tonight's glorious *** kicking.

I have respect for this UT team and Rick Barnes. I think Barnes is a heckuva man and a good coach, and I think their team is full of good young men (although they drove me to really dislike them during competition tonight!).

But that fan base is nothing more than New Money a-holes. Always have been. Always will be. In every sport too, by the way. I’ve worn that term out this week on twitter but when the shoe fits so perfectly, use it up. Big Orange is nothing more than a bunch of Johnny-come-latelys that have no idea what it’s like to have a real program. Nor will they ever know.

-- Orange in the building, because their team is historically great for that program. And they're a 3-4 hour drive north. And some of our jerk season ticket holders love profiteering on their good seats. Near altercation next to us, though.

-- Top 3 environment I've witnessed at Rupp. LSU (Shaq & Chris Jackson) and Kansas 1990 (return game after 150-95 beatdown) were the only other that were that electric and loud.

-- Kept pointing out players as they showed up along the baselines, and my wife asks, "Damn... who is that? That is one good-looking man." That is Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, my dear.

-- Beating Tennessee is always a delicious treat every year regardless of how good or bad they are in comparison to us. This game was no different, but this UT squad is also one of their first really good teams that is fun to watch play. Their trip to LSU next weekend is :eyes:.

-- Herro with 15 and 13, and he was outstanding on defense. Kid is a baller.

I’m wasted here but that game was just beautiful for us.

Gameplanning to have PJ/Reid just body up and have Herro crashing was just the perfect strategy because his man never left the 3 pt line it seemed.

Reid caught hell the first half, but Williams had 8 points and 6 were off 3’s. He was much stronger in the 2nd on the stat sheet but eliminating Williams post presence in the first half should not go overlooked.

Richards/EJ just do little things to help, and it’s a very loud small contribution.

KJ is a much better shooter than I expected, in fact he is clutch! Game on the line and I think I prefer him to Herro honestly.

I know Grant Williams gets all the love for UT, but Bone and Schofield make that team. Their ability to create their shot and attack the rim vs force feeding the post for Williams just stood out. Not to mention Williams had two 3’s in the first half and 8 FTs in the second half which was 14 of his 16 and seemed like even less during the game.

Based on Hagans overall tenacity, Herro’s thriving on the road, KJ showing up and our bigs just being bigger in the post I have a lot of confidence for that game @Tennessee!

It really is too bad that Herro doesn't give us anything when he's not scoring.

I mean, imagine how good this team would be - and how good he would be - if he'd just get some boards and play defense well.
