Today's decision came from a jury. Let's see what other judges think about it. Only one has had any say in it so far.

It's not difficult to convince normal people to convict someone as sleazy as Gatto, even if he didn't technically commit a crime.

Even if you’re an A+ citizen, a name like Gatto would really put you behind the 8 ball in any criminal proceeding.

McKenna 10 got a little scarce after it won that award. Pretty good, but for price I prefer Eagle rare.

McKenna 10 is fine. Until it won that award, no one gave it much of a thought. It’s just standard issue Heaven Hill BIB, but at 10 years.

Regarding the earlier inquiry about the 1792 - the “full proof” iteration that is out now is really good. It’s not a true barrel proof, but at 125, close enough. Barton is doing a lot of private barrelings of it, most of which I’ve had are very good. For NKY people, the private barrel at One Stop in Bellevue is excellent. They call it “the Thin Blue Line” and donate a portion of the proceeds to law enforcement foundations. The one DEPS has right now is also very good.

“As a jury has now found, the defendants not only deceived universities into issuing scholarships under false pretenses, they deprived the universities of their economic rights and tarnished an ideal which makes college sports a beloved tradition by so many fans all over the world.”

:joy::joy::joy::joy:

This insufferable asshat probably even said it with a straight face, too.

United States attorney Robert Khuzami, ladies and gentlemen.

[laughing]

Then he bends down and looks in the window.

Big, dumbass grin on his face.

It’s Shaq.

I’m like, “Yo! I’m going to practice! You made me late!”

He don’t miss a beat. He taps side of my truck, turns around and says, “Don’t worry about it. I’ll pay your fine. Just holler at me.”

I’m looking in the rearview mirror, like, How the hell …

Shaq’s got one of those old-school police lights that you put on the hood of your car like you see on C.O.P.S.

* One of life's great mysteries......how is Vietnamese food so ridiculously cheap??

Went to the famous Hong Kong Market (Gretna, LA) yesterday and got an awesome bahn mi for $3, and a pre-made vermicelli bowl with egg rolls for $3.50. Even at a nice-ish restaurant, these things are like $7 or $8. I spend more than that at Jimmy John's, for pete's sake.

* You have got to be f'ing kidding me:

* Rocco Baldelli hired as the next manager of the Twins. That guy was supposed to be the next Joe Dimaggio. [eyeroll]

* KingLlama's social media feed reminds me of George Strait -- if you put out that much content, you're gonna have a lot of hits, but you'll have a ton of swings and misses, too.

* Heading to Phoenix this evening...

- pacing my buddy at the 100-mile Javelina Jundred (https://aravaiparunning.com/network/javelinajundred/)
- hanging with my bro and fam. gonna take in my first youth soccer match in quite some time. recs? need some great insults to scream at the refs. tia.

* Weekend airbnb haul = $1100. It's like free money.

* Have never, will never root for the bad guys in any NCAA matters. Pay for play scandals, under the table shoe money deals, academic fraud.....just can't do it.

But I will root heartily against sanctimonious pricks like Roy and Self, who somehow continue to insist this world is just a mystery to them. Note to those two: buy a copy of the book Sole Influence. That book was written TWENTY year ago. :joy:

I don’t even really know how to describe what was going on …. We walk in the crib and Shaq’s got this movie on his big screen. Like a DVD. And it’s real professional. It’s a real movie. Only it’s Shaq and his boys just messing around, fighting ninjas and ****. I’m talking real extras, throwing ninjas stars and everything. And Shaq’s got this crazy wig on, and he’s doing Kung-Fu flips and flying through windows and whatnot. It was crazy.

I turn around and Mystikal is standing there, eating a potato chip or something, watching this movie, like, “Damn …” I was buggin’ out. I was like, “Yo! Is this real life?”

Love these kinds of stories. One of the best reads of the year.

Was Mystikal there by himself??

This doesn’t check out. Why would Zo invite him, but leave out Mr Serve On and Mia X? Where was Soulja Slim in all of this?

Party seems a little sketchy, imo.

The last remaining holdouts, if I’m not mistaken....

SAE = who mocks CTE and doesn’t seem to care

UKO = who truly believes the connection between football and CTE is a myth

Good stuff, guys.

-Roy and Boehiem getting sanctimonious about the scandal is great. Ok guys, you all realize we still remember 2 of the biggest NCAAB scandals(outside of UL) in the last decade involving your teams? Christ, Boehiem missed like 1/2 a season and attempted to cover up a sexual predator.

-Anyway, I'll take the NCAA eyeballing Lawrence for the season. TIA.

-Neighbor crushed a lasagna last night, picked up a couple Italian reds to wash it down. A+

-Speaking of wine, MCF put me on to the Vivino App. Favorite new app this year. Snap a picture of a wine list and it digitizes it with rankings, links to see the profile, learns your preferences. Pretty snazzy.

-12 days and no more 89 combat missions, navy soccer stories, too liberal for KY, etc. I'm watching for write in candidates, so everyone needs to step it up.

-BBdk preseason basketball post just tiptoes the line of being great and too cute perfectly. Oh yeah, and we have a game tomorrow. F*ck yeah!!! Officially :basketball: season. Let's GO!!

-Work weekend, line up the gambol, large cup of coffee to wear off the slight handover, roll through a ton of busy work I've been putting off. Worship.

I don’t understand what PTIs argument is? I don’t think anyone is arguing that football is good for brain functionality down the road but neither is being an African American boy in the poor south which is what the majority of the NFL is if they didn’t play football for a living.

Never said it is a myth...but your iron clad "play football get CTE" position is.

Does everyone who plays football get CTE? No. Is it likely you will get CTE from playing football? No. Can you get CTE from playing football? Yes.

You can also break your neck and be paralyzed playing football. It is a brutally physical sport.

Football doesn’t cause CTE, you idiots. Kickers don’t get CTE. The trainers don’t get CTE.

Slamming your head into things causes CTE, and that happens to be a huge part of the sport. Same with pro wrestling, soccer (headers), bull riding, hockey, etc.

Slamming your head into things is very, very bad for you. It’s preposterous and disgusting that anyone would argue otherwise, let alone write a gd book about it.

-favourite ref jab: "hey ref, whats the spread?" May not be apprapo at a youth soccer game.

-speaking of yelling at people...about 10 years ago i was 3-4 rows behind unc bench at rupp. Everyone is yelling at ol' roy to sit down. As it happens I pipe up at the exact monent everyone has gotten quiet with a geese-esque "sit down roy!" He glances back and responds "I prefer to stand!"...a perfect retort. I gained a bit of (short-lived) respect for roy that day, gang.

Heading a soccer ball hurts like hell. My oldest refuses to do it and I can't argue with him.

Also, re political ads - I saw one accusing Joe Manchin of being a pawn of the "homosexual lobby," so it could be a LOT worse.

Call me crazy but

- running your head into things over and over is bad for you

and

- currently it still seems like the likelihood that those worst case scenarios happen are pretty low and even more so for the 99% of players who never get beyond the high school level

both seem like they can be true.

His book is saying that slamming your head into things isn't bad? I seriously doubt it says that anywhere.
