Maybe all the head trauma associated with football will steer some real athletes toward soccer.

I’d bet that a random group of NBA/NFL players could at least qualify for the World Cup. Give them 30 days to condition and learn the basics and they’d probably win a medal.

Kinda the opposite. We already have big, physical athletes. We just have nowhere near the skill or instinct as kids who are born into it.

As a general rule, whatever is your country's way out of extreme poverty and violence, your people are going to excel in. The kids who dominate soccer here are suburbanites on $10,000 travel teams.

Mid summer football randos:

*Terry TD, just hype? I'm torn, on one hand having a dude doing a poor man's LAMAR imitation would be cool and exciting. On the other, when have we ever had a guy like that and it worked? In fact, guys like that rarely work in the SEC, period. And can we get out of the damn stone ages with our passing game? Under Stoops, we've basically been stuck in the 90's on offense while all these other teams have evolved. Unfrozencavemanoffense!

*...and unfrozencavemanoffense has often been the better side of the ball. This has to be a make or break year on the defensive side of the ball for our defensive minded coach. The numbers are terrible, and Joker can't be blamed because we are as bad or worse with Stoops' own guys. With the returning talent, no excuses.

*7 is safe territory for Stoops as it should be. 4 would be danger zone. What happens if we win 5 or 6? I think the fanbase turns against Stoops and M. Toast is it a tough position...he would certainly keep him, but ticket sales would get U G L Y.

*Does Bowden make it though the season on the team? Dude seems unhinged (not in a good way) and I'm not sure how he would take a Terry TD situation in which it might get 2 targets a game.

*Effin Jordan Jones, he has some making up to do with the fanbase.

*Going to be interesting to see who my old man chooses to hate watch this year, he had Elam for so long.

*My goodness our uniforms suck, I hate them more every year. Someone post a pic of Pookie Jones and the power K please. THIS IS NOT HARD! ****, toss some checkers around the trim if you have to but please look like the SEC. I know I'm screaming at a cloud.

*Our basketball team is going to be awesome and I'm not a betting man but I wish I have placed a bet on the Cayts prior to the Travis news.

Man, F UConn in basically everything they do. Hope Ollie sues their nuts off for defamation of character or whatever.

F Jake Voskuhl. Why not.

Favorite part about the first practice report:

Immanuel Quickley: A truly phenomenal athlete. When it was time to go, Immanuel was absolutely flying. He was dialed in to everything Coach Cal said and I can't recall there being one instance where Cal blew the whistle to show him how to do something differently. He was all about business the entire practice.

^Player on the team! A lot of people forget this.

I've said it on here before, but if you don't start working on soccer skills at a young - I mean, YOUNG - age, you can forget about it. Believe it or not, it is f***ing hard to manipulate a soccer ball with your feet.

Probably the dumbest thing ever posted in GYERO. Impressive considering the awful NBA takes in here recently (Knox as Durant 2.0 with Durant on pace to finish as a top 15-20 NBA player of all-time, and UKO seriously arguing that 2018 Kevin Love was "one of the best PFs to ever play the game," lol). You do understand how skill sports work, right?

Maybe the kids in this country, just like most of the adults, think soccer is gay and want to use their hands in competition. You know, one of the main things we evolved to do on this earth

Here's what's wrong with US Soccer. Jonathan Gonzalez...stud 18yo midfielder from Los Angeles...chose to play for the Mexican National team instead of the US National team. Mainly b/c the Mexican National team showed him more love. He didn't quite "fit" the US system, whatever the f**k that is...and was considered an outsider.

Well, he Tweeted earlier this week that his goal for this season was to win the Heisman, so I'm expecting big things. Worked for Damon Carter.

(Takes a deep breath)

UK football just isn't worth the energy needed to talk about it. Shew. Feels good to say that. Pencil in 3 to 6 wins, some epic f***-ups, another loss to Florida, and another contract extension for Mark. The end.
I agree, almost :100points:.

THAT SAID....apparently Floyd St's qb's name is "Puma Pass"......shorely to become just............Puma.

I've had a bit of a hard time mustering angst against them since their athletic department died in a fire, kinda like when Owen Wilson felt bad for that golden retriever with a little gimp.

But Puma is sooo them and brings my edge back.

For Kentucky football to work this year we would be relying on a solid defense and a dual threat QB that didn't work at Oregon to be a badass, 2 wins max.

-PMT guys were excellent on KSR, Bilas [sick]. That dude is terrible and his monotone condescending voice makes it unbearable.

-Certainly a little smoke for the way K treats players, "I'm above you", but I think the sentiment from the Carters is more to do with the entire charade of CBB. However, they better get used to the business side of basketball. NBA doesn't give a f*ck about your feelings.

-Twitter = crazy left wing, FB = crazy right wing. Not sure if it's just me or typical.

-FB team, excuses are over. Time to see some actual results. We pissed away a hell of an opportunity last season. So no reason to dive into it. Go out there and take a step up or GTFO.

-Apparently G dropped, "I'll ***** you out" in context this morning. So expecting to pick him up any moment from school.

-Added a bouncy fella to the Big Blue Bahamas roster. Nice late game pickup.

I'm definitely going to be living MaxPowerrr's #smuglyfe if one of my law school professors ends up a Supreme Court justice.

Shorts:

- GD- UK football angst in here every day. It’s 2018 and we have a good squad (for us) coming back. Focus on the positives.

- Not afraid to admit that I miss Geesefeeder, 73, Richie and SAE among others.

- Went my first fall/winter of all-time without a devastating sinus infection. In fact, was clean throughout. This summer- have already gotten two colds. As Avril Levigne would say, “what the hell?”

- Does MobileCat hate GYERO now or what?

- Two most interesting Cats- Baker and Quickley. Seems to this college basketball that only one will survive. Who will it be?

- Again, we essentially just added Clarence Weatherspoon/Paul Millsap/Glen Davis to a study team already. And we get to watch them play ballgames in 5 weeks. Get hype BBN.

Along with BKH, I've been on the Quickley train all summer. He's definitely going to survive (and excel), just as he has at every level his entire career against the best competition. Kid is a gamer.

Baker will never play a truly meaningful minute here, something I've also maintained. Cal hates shooters.

Awesome morning!

Wake up at 4 am, drive to JAX airport, board 6 am, sit on plane for 3 GD motherf'ing hours next to one cool dude and another dude that doesn't understand middle seat etiquette. This breaks, that light is not working, we'll be pushing back soon folks...please get off the plane. I had the phone ready because people were getting pissed off to the point I was certain there was going to be a viral video but didn't even get that.

Had to cancel everything, which Priceline Indian Jason took care of in 10 minutes.

Rebooked the exact same MF itinerary for next Thurs and Fri.

Southwest can kinda get pumped but all my refund is tied to them so hopefully it's not the same broken down POS plane next week.

Side note, dude gets on with his screaming kid and tells him to sit there next to these people and he'll be in the back. They looked like someone pulled a gun on them and he says he's kidding and carries the little **** on towards the back. 3 hours later he was one that was frothing at the mouth mad at the flight attendant but I gave him a pass because of his ability to use his kid to terrify people.

There are so many people at airports that irk the **** out of me. Line jumpers, toolbox with his sunglasses on in security line kicking his luggage ahead of him, lady that tries to board 3 times before they call her zone (glad that's finally enforced and they kinda embarrass the person now) and always guy that thinks it's private jet travel and his missed connection is a much, much bigger deal than the other 175 people that just got f'd too.

But, all better knowing we're going 40-0 this year. [banana]

Man, I just went to a Sports Memorabilia place near where I work. CEI Sports. Awesome.

I'm going to snag a couple of framed Big Red Machine, Riverfront Stadium, Rupp Arena and Mohammed Ali prints for the new man cave. Did you guys know I was finishing my basement?

Going through stuff over the weekend, I found a couple of Bengals training camp programs with dozens of signatures I got back in the mid 80's. Boomer, Munoz, James Brooks, etc. I'm gonna get those and a couple of Sports Illustrated mags I got autographed by our 2012 Natty Champs framed. Should make my bar area a little more SmugLyfe worthy.

Our two best shooters rode the pine all year - B-rad and J-merl. AND WE STILL almost went 40-0, folks. How crazy is that?
