My brother lives just outside Park City. They really, really hate us. He proudly wears UK gear pretty much daily and catches a lot of Mormon hostility.

In honor of the Utah game, here are some great Majerus Quotes:

"Some guys smoke. Some guys drink. Some guys chase women. I'm a big barbecue-sauce guy."

"Nobody thought I'd be a great coach. I'm the kind of guy you'd expect to be driving an 18-wheeler through town."

To Jay Bilas, wearing a polo shirt rather than the traditional Hawaiian shirt while covering a tournament in Hawaii...
"Jay, only a guy who gets out of the shower to take a piss would wear a shirt like that."

“They have all those McDonald’s All-Americans. We have four guys on our team who don’t even have a McDonald’s in their town.”

"Man, if they show Ashley one more time, I'm not going to have to rent a movie when I get back to the hotel tonight."

On how he planned to stop the Kentucky Wildcats in a 1996 NCAA tournament match-up ...
"Food poisoning!"

About how the Utes' season keeps ending with a loss to Kentucky..
"When I die, they might as well bury me at the finish line at Churchill Downs so they can run over me one more time."

He said that he had tried to arrange a home and home series with the University of Kentucky, but they refused. "I'd play Kentucky home and home every year. Book it right now. I'd do anything to get them there. They want to ski on a mountain, I can get them a mountain to ski on. For privacy I can get them to Redford's place and they can eat like kings. But Kentucky ain't coming to play us." "I also said I'd like to date Ashley Judd and you know, she ain't gonna do that either. That was her dad that was here with me before. He looked at me and he's happy I'm not dating her either." "I am like Kentucky's favorite punching bag. People in Kentucky love me. 'I'd like me too if I lost every game."

Diagnosis: Strained muscle in the lumbar something or other, OLD. I should practice better posture along with improving diet and exercise. No one mentioned posture so you guys could have really messed me up.

Misdiagnosis: BackAIDS

I'm glancing at possible "needle therapy." Still feel fine today though. I will probably hold off on the acupuncture as long as I keep limbering up.Yoga on the other hand . . .

I like how Wayne begs someone to produce statistics when his argument is basically that of a drunk wanting alcohol banned because he can't trust himself around a bottle.

Wrong. I am not from Kentucky, but I've been here long enough to know that quite a few schleps in this state can't be trusted with a bottle, a joint or a casino. And I know that the guys who can will be forced to pick up the tab for those that can't.

So please, just show me one chart on what legalizing casinos and weed will do for the state economically and socially. Should be pretty easy, right?

Standard medical practice dictates you treat acutely and take heroin to alleviate the pain. While this may be a short term fix, diet and exercise (losing a few pounds, do core work) is the true long term solution to actually fixing your problem.

I’m curious if any physician will actually let you in on that secret. Probably not.

Before I go investing my time in a hearty Google search, you do know that your starting point today is one of the most bankrupt, unhealthy, uneducated, backwards *** states in the country.

And on top of that, weed and gambling are currently extremely accessible and enjoyed.

You know that, right?

Standard practice is anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, and pain medication to get them through acute flare. The ER and primary docs can only give out a handful of candy now. You want long term narcs, gotta see a pain specialist bub.

Just curious, did you have any imaging studies?

Does a 25% tax from grower to store then another 25% from store to consumer count? Can I use that? What about healthier livers from not getting 25 loracets for a tooth ache? Less ******* helicopters flying around the hills looking for a plant? How much do you think it cost to put three or four cops in a helicopter and fly them around for four or five hours a day?

Which pothead picked on you in school?

I'll play along. The economist in me believes that alcohol should be taxed at significantly higher rates, given the amount of issues it causes (crime, disease, etc.). I believe weed would actually alleviate some of these issues as a substitute. There has been research to support this.

Regarding casinos / sports gambling: I don't believe this will be an economic benefit to the state. If your argument is that it doesn't matter whether it is or not, it's all about personal freedom, that's fine, but don't conflate your preference for expanded liberties with shoddy economic promises.

And again, all I'm asking for is some solid evidence that casino gambling will be a net positive economically to the state. Should be simple, right?

The best part about that Yahoo piece...

Rick Pitino maintained and even enhanced the program’s stature in his 16 seasons, winning the 2013 national championship* (until it was vacated)

Then what?

We already have f*cking sports gambling in the state and have for 100+ years. At all corners, in fact. One of our proudest industries the other being booze.

Jesus.
Yes. “Then what?” As in I think legalized weed and sports gambling will be a net gain, but I could be wrong. I don’t think Wayne has made the case, but I’m cool with him trying.

But ultimately I don’t care if the tax revenues are not as projected, because my agreement with legalization isn’t dependent on how much it feeds the state.

I know he’s just trolling a bit, but physicians are taught pretty much from day one that proper diet and exercise are the best, most cost effective treatments for a whole host of ailments. And when you tell patients that, they roll their eyes, switch doctors and whine about how their prior doctor didn’t do anything and charged them a fortune to tell them the same thing their mirror does. If the patient is younger, they’ll even throw in there that the doctor “fat shamed” them. Maybe even post a healthgrades review about it. The majority of people don’t want to fix themselves, they want to be fixed.

Narcotics as first line for back pain hasn’t been taught for at least a decade. Ibuprofen, short burst of muscle relaxers if evidence of muscle spasms with no refills, avoid bed rest, start physical therapy... consider imaging and referral to a specialist if imaging shows anything that’s fixable. Folks giving out narcs are either practicing in the dark ages or are overworked ER docs who just don’t have the touching time to research / thoroughly interview the patient who is screaming at them that the pain is so bad they’ll kill themselves if they don’t get any help.

And still, this isn’t necessarily a simple decision for him — even if he suspects he won’t be drafted. Before last season, NBA rosters expanded from 15 to 17 players, with the addition of two spots for players with two-way contracts. Those players spend most of the season in the NBA G League and 45 days or less with the actual NBA team, with the potential to earn around $275,000 for the year.

Several undrafted players, including former LSU star Antonio Blakeney, have signed two-way deals. Vanderbilt, who averaged 5.9 points and 7.9 rebounds in just 17.0 minutes per game at Kentucky (he snagged a staggering 18.5 boards per 40 minutes) would almost certainly get one of those.

“There’s not a lot of difference between those guys and guys who were picked in the 50s last year and got two-way contracts,” Givony said. “What does it matter if you’re the 61st pick [the odd man out in a 60-player draft] and you got a two-way deal or you’re the 55th pick and got a two-way deal? At least if you’re undrafted, you get to negotiate with all 30 teams. So there really isn’t this cut-off that there used to be that, ‘You gotta get picked here or you go back to school.’
