I think at one time even Richard Pitino's name got thrown in the mix. Again, if they were going to go the former player route, Kyle Watson was the guy. Not Ewing.

^ Yep, a guy with no head coaching* and/or recruiting experience ---> pretty solid hire.

*Interim tag doesn't really count

I think most people are going to drastically overrate the head coaching job at Georgetown. That's a pretty ****** program. Not sure why anyone would want it, to be honest.

Also interesting that They were turned down by Mike Brey, Chris Mack, Shaka Smart before settling on Ewing.

Pretty obvious it wasn't the route they wanted to go but were left with little options.
Lol. Yeah they swung for 3 guys with better gigs. Rather that looking at up and comers that will actually take the job. Most likely a terrible hire and they'll be forced to fire a legend in a couple years.

Patrick Ewing, Head Coach. Georgetown Hoyas.

That guy has paid his dues, having coached assistantly for 15 years. Throw away the seasons that his dad crushed it there in the 80s, and it's just another middling academic school program. This may end up being a pretty solid hire. It's interesting, at least.

Whose dad?

Patrick Chewing has wanted to be a coach since he retired and he was never given an opportunity to be a head coach in 15 years. This is a massive red flag to me. But you have to start somewhere and I hope he kills it.

Probably would have served Georgetown better to try and break away from the Big John tree, but it sounds like they tried.

They didn't have a lot of options, but Ewing was still a terrible choice.

Hey, though, I'm sure John Thompson Jr. is thrilled. 5 or 6 more years of being the center of attention at every home game.

I'd rather add the Junior from the ACC to next year's squad, all things being equal -- but ^'s stroke is pure.

Ewing would do well to get a guy like Antigua on his staff.

We'd do well to can one of the 3 wackass assistants we have and get O back on board. We ain't been the same since he left. Cal hired one loser who was fired from fn auburn I think because he felt bad for him. Robic isn't allowed to talk to our team. That one white guy just sort of showed up on the bench. It's embarrassing.

Gdit Mitch!

Looks great til he sits on the bench his entire freshman year and then transfers ala Chuck Matthews.

Joel Justus.

He's Eddie Suttons kid, iirc.

Oh that's right Billy G's nephew. Good kid. Hard worker.

I read about Joel Justus earlier, now I know who he is, and I hate him even more than I did when I didn't know who he was.

Every sentence describing him has the word "analytics" in it. F that.

But I do know why Robic can't talk now, and that's because Mr. Analytics basically took Robic's job. F that.

Send Justice back to Wahoo St University, give Robic his job back, and pay Orlando Antigua head coach money if need be.

Damnit, Mitch.

*and don't tell me Joel is ace recruiter either because he looks like he recruited and signed Skal, tbh, and there is zero way he's half the man Orlando was. Big O took a bullet to the dome and played for the Globetrotters, FYI. What did Joella do? Analystics for SW Hampton High.

Looks like the line will close at UNC -1. Damn.

Per BetOnline and others, looks to be the most heavily bet game in BASKETBALL history.
