Fair enough. But in my experience Pitt, Cleveland, and Buffalo are hated on without discretion. If you know where to go and hang out, those cities are a blast. Also, winter sucks, so there's a counterpoint.

My wife's company laid off 500 people yesterday. It's a Japanese company so as much to do with their economy as ours. They were notified of the lay offs on Wednesday afternoon, and then got their decisions yesterday morning. She's got her job still- which we are grateful for, but some good friends wound up on the wrong end. Pretty brutal. Makes me physically sick to even think about. We went through it in 2015- but we dont have children, and I still had my job and insurance, etc... some in much more dire situations.
Wife just went through this herself. 32 layoffs at her job. They kept her and let go of the other girl who does the same job. So she gets to do the work for two, but she's got job security I guess.

There are a few cities that I never, ever have any plans to visit, unless forced. I'm sure I'm way off on some of them, but for the most part, I don't really care to visit:
  • Cleveland
  • Pittsburgh
  • Detroit (already been so I guess it doesn't count, but I'd ungo there if I could)
  • Anywhere in New Jersey
  • Syracuse
  • Milwaukee
  • Buffalo
  • Minneapolis
Agree with most. Minneapolis/St. Paul is actually better than you would think.

I haven't been to a city yet that 100% sucks. Can always find some cold crafties, top notch wings, and fine folks if you know where to look.

Now to be fair, I got no time for townships and villages and unincorporated parts of counties and whatnots.

* Buddy > Benny

* Richie, you're a touching genius. Wildcat Willy heads down to the master bath with a sharp object suitable for scratching the tub.

*
Looks like 80% chance of rain for Reds Opening Day. I just turned down 4 freebies.

* Wednesday was a nice cool night, had the windows open in my bedroom listening to the soothing gurgling sounds coming from Lake Gyero.

At 3am a strange metal screeching sound and stomping noises woke both Marge and me up. I peeked out the window and 3 deer were passing the damn bird feeder around like a joint.

It is hanging on a curved metal pole. One deer would lift it toward itself with its tongue and get a mouthful, then the next, then the third one's turn. 3 ft from my bedroom window.

They kept the same order the entire time.

I think I learned something from watching it, and that was touch North Carolina. Because I couldn't fall back asleep and kept thinking about that damn game.

So the moral of the story is I hope anyone but the Heels wins the damn thing. Thank you.

* DeSha's fish & chips for lunch. El Pueblo seafood chimichanga for dinner. Thank you Jesus. :flush:

Even better than finding out you wife is getting laid off is finding out she's getting laid off a month after you find out she's pregnant :flush:. Everything worked out and she's going to be a stay at home mom for a while because of her severance but it sucked for the first few weeks after we found out.

Speaking of cities, that I85 situation in Atlanta seems like a real disaster for that city. What a logistical nightmare that's going to be.
The Braves are supposed to open their new stadium in like 2 days... people were already bitching about traffic to get out there, and that was before one of the most widely used roadways in the country apparently caught fire and collapsed like something out of a movie.

Speaking of SAE's wild west comments.

One of the guys that got GOT had a GF/baby-momma that worked for me for two years. According to FB accounts, she was with the dude when he was shot...three times....in the front of a store.

He also sold heroin. So....adios!

Shocking they didn't take a few swigs from the Koi Sewage Pond.

Learn Lake Gyero, dumbass. No koi, no sewage.

And they drink out of it every morning. As soon as I put new plants in there, the area will be barricaded by deer repellant.

Which, to be honest, works about as well as a John Calipari out of bounds play.

So was that actually the oft-referenced Lil Mez or was that a parody made by someone poking fun of Lil Mez? I won't get that accent of "oooon n' oooon" out of my head. Shout-out to pappaw ATKOT.

Totally agree except Dayton, Ohio.

I've kind of been out of the loop the last few days, but has BTI written a blurb for KSR yet about how Kentucky fans should be rooting for North Carolina this weekend yet, or nah?

I mean, I assume it's coming.

-Agreed with BBdk. Combined with the weather being **** for business for 6 months I'm just bleh. Been a **** last 1/2 year. Counting on my favorite time of year to snap me out of it.

-Started season 2 of "Love" and it's good but I think it really bummed me out more. Not in the right mood to watch it.

-Finally a weekend with basically nothing on the schedule. Nice little ride, hope to take G to the baseball game, Sunday night dinner on the egg. Shew.

-Looking like a full renovation of our house is imminent. Talk about an overwhelming thought. Obviously going to be D-O-P-E though.

-New Kendrck is waf. Took a couple listens though.

-Hit up Hoot's in Memphis. Agree 100% with Rich on the decor taking away from the nostalgia but they do feel more clean. Most had gotten fairly greasy. Plus, I feel like they've really picked up the quality lately. 10 drummies, hot, fries, could Bud Light draft. That's a damn perfect lunch.

-I hate giving _chase_ credit for anything but that list is pretty accurate. I'll give Cleveland an "acceptable" is about it because the people were so cool and that little area around the arena is alright.

-Hoping I don't get suckered into a Keeneland Saturday. Friday is the only play.

BWs got real dark, as in a noticeable lack of good lighting/dingy, and dirty somewhere around 2003.

I'm down for an occasional beer/wings, sure -- but have no idea why anyone would regularly spend valuable free time in either of them, jmo.

Seems like a waste.

- The F'ing tournament. Going from the euphoria of Friday to the misery of Sunday; from being totally consumed with nothing but work and college basketball for an entire month to avoiding all sports (successfully I might add) this week. I just don't have the stomach for it this week. Maybe I'll dip my toes back into sports next week. Just lost my appetite. Still interested in the general goings on with the Cats but don't have enough in me to get indepth.

- Taking the lass on her third annual "Sorry I've been mentally checked out for the last month" and "Sorry we haven't had a Saturday without UK influence for 5 Months" dinner tomorrow night. Looking forward to it.

- Checked out "Up and Vanished" podcast on dK's rec. Was vaguely familiar with the case through a previous Dateline. Pretty good listen. Onto Shittown now. No idea where its headed but not bad two shows in.

8th annual, tomorrow night. Preceded by a week of Dateline & This is Us :fire::fire::fire: It's actually an enjoyable get away, or at least a nice distraction.

Haven't been to a BW3's in maybe 10 years. The wings are meh and it feels like it's chalk full of Fantasty Football dork types. Plus there's so many solid bar/wing joint options these days.

Hoots on Dutchman's has never been short on talent but when I was in there on the Friday of the SEC Tourney it was borderline ridiculous. Think the major upgrade to the joint attracted an up tier Hoots gal if you will.

You mean like Golden Tee guy who is there 4 nights a week and basically acts like he owns the joint by calling all workers by first name and also LOUD AS F
