- Sweet 16 has been pretty good to us under Cal:

'10- smacked the smart kids
'11- an all-timer
'12- one of the more fun tournament games in awhile and ousted a rival
'14- Louisville :joy:
'15- beat WVU by 50

- Dreamt last night that I got the game time wrong and missed the first half. I am ate up right now.

- Actually enjoy being the last game this round. Looking forward to enjoying tonight.

- Props to my fiancé- I pretty much mentally check out for March. She's done a good job proactively making plans with friends.

- ^ Made it easier for me to bite my tongue with what we dropped on a photographer last night. Good gawd.

- Can Butler take out UNC or nah?

- It's remarkable how our bracket holds every year. There's chaos everywhere except for at home. There it's rocksteady.

- Florida's bracket luck the last 6-7 years is just stupid. Take a look at who they've had to play. It's amazing.

So many times in sports the rematch to an epic game is hyped to the moon and back, only to underwhelm. From the casual fan perspective, I see Friday nights game being lumped in that bucket. It's being billed as the game of the S16, and rightfully so, on the back of the break-neck 190 combined point December outing.

However, college basketballs around here know that we haven't played at that pace since the Obama administration and that's not going to change Friday. Going in expecting a gut wrenching, nerve racking, almost vomit inducing thriller; that won't aesthetically resemble the style of play that was on display in December.

* You're getting a photographer for your engagement/wedding? Ha! Who TF does that???

P-whipped, man. P-whipped.

* Currently sitting at a Heine in the Highlands. Feels good. Well, except that a homeless dude who talks to himself insisted on plopping down right next to me.

* Drove out to Fairdale to see BBdK's new place yesterday. Some thoughts....

- anyone who can get drunk and drive around in a tricked out golf cart all day is winning at life, imo
- huge fan of jefferson memorial forest, and they have an amazing view of it
- thank god l-dub is there to decorate, because the place looks amazing
- old boy is just built for the country club life. kudos

* In town for a few days with my gal friend (the girl whose earring i swallowed/nearly died on has a huge office in jeffersonville. she's here for work, and i figured marcus welby tag along). Stopped by Fan Outfitters and picked up a long sleeve tech shirt. Sort of a shooting/warmup jersey. It's very clean, imo. Also size small, fwiw.

* That Quest is enormous.

* Getting in a nice little run with some buds in Cherokee later this afternoon. Lunch downtown with a work associate. Watch some games at the bellydancers. Head to Lexington tomorrow. Watching the game with Euge & Black Mike at the Cellar.

* Staying at the 21c in Lex tomorrow, and then the Seelbach in Louisville Saturday night. Back in the Big Easy for the Elite 8 game Sunday.

* Lavar Ball is stupidly brilliant. Like Conor Macgregor or our president or Paris Hilton -- no pr is bad pr.

I have absolutely loved coaching Jayson Tatum,” Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “His skill set and work ethic will make him a star in the NBA. Whichever team selects him will be getting a humble, thoughtful and talented young man whom we are proud to call a member of the Duke Basketball brotherhood.”

Tatum averaged 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Blue Devils in 2016-17, ranking second on the team and among ACC freshmen in both categories. He shot .452 from the floor and .849 from the free throw line in 33.3 minutes per game.

The St. Louis native currently ranks fifth in the ACC in free throw percentage, 10th in rebound average and 12th in scoring.

“I’m excited to take the next step in pursuing my lifelong dream of playing basketball at the highest possible level,” Tatum said. “With that said, I’ve loved my time at Duke. The Brotherhood is a real thing and I’ll always be part of the bond between former, current and future Duke players. I want to thank my teammates, coaches, family and friends for the unwavering support I’ve received as I pursue my dream
.”

I mean, I get that Lavar is trolling and winning at doing that, but...

Outside of the Williams sisters and their pops, when has crazy-over-the-top-media-seeking parent actually worked out in the long run?

Oh I have no doubt that his new found attitude and "changing with the times" is almost certainly born out of his own self-interests. He certainly took note of his mentor's precipitous fall as Knight failed to adapt to the times.

Besides this photographer being a hipster couple who live in Northside and twice as expensive as the last photographer we met with, I can tell no difference.

As I said before- as soon as her dad gave a budget, the $$$ is between her and her folks.

This is kind of cool, though- her dad is becoming a big UK fan. He's always been a football guy but has really gotten into following the Cats this season.

Ursch rolls up in a brand new tricked out Infiniti Rental, made me proud. Seems like the kind of dude to take the Nissan Versa, just because...even when on the company dime, which is obviously is in that thing. 21C & Seelbach, too? Who is this guy?

Dude seems to have the best job in the world, at least as far as working for a major corporation is concerned. Seems like stealing, imo -- Enjoy!

Our photographers were a weird couple who my wife chose on the rec of some girl she used to work out with.

They focused on the giant beardless Jesus on the Cross hanging above the alter instead of us in most of the pics.

Odd ducks. I would not have chosen them, but I just stayed the touch out of the way the entire planning period unless I was asked. wcc is a smart lad, I'm sure he will do the same thing.

On a side note, my Dad was obsessed with the Beardless Jesus. "Where is his beard? Why did they do that? What is it supposed to mean?"

It's extremely difficult to be nice to PTI(pti) -- in the interest of friendship, you have to take those rare opportunities imo.

You can count the nice things I've said to/about that guy in GYERO in the last decade on 1 finger, and vice versa. :100points:

Staying at the 21c in Lex
Is this pretty much the only nice hotel in downtown Lex? Stayed there a month ago which was fine but for Paddock-level lodging it seemed slim pickins. I'm sure the Hyatt and Radisssson are the 90's digs they were in college.

Saw Anth and Sloot from a distance at Tony's which was not too surprising, didn't get to have the "these people are Catpaw famous" talk with my hen.

Our photographers were a weird couple
They all are. It's a prerequisite.

Haven't even thought about the UCLA game yet. Been so wrapped up in the WBC world baseball classic. Team USA brought home the hardware for the first time. Proud to be an American for at least one day.

Speaking of the WBC world baseball classic- looks like the gold chain is fully back in style. My oldest is now itching for one to wear this upcoming season after seeing some of the pro's rocking the bling during the WBC. He plays baseball.

Speaking of my son we are all going to myrtle beach soon and I'm not sure what to think. On the one hand it's a family vacation but on the other it's my wife's family! Also there are reports of a giant great white shark lurking in the dark choppy Atlantic waters. Emerald coast ftw.

Speaking of water my washing machine and dryer both died this week. Got to order brand new of each and hang out at the house while the lowes guys came and removed my old ones and placed the new ones in the laundry room. I say "placed" and not "installed" because apparently you have to purchase all the power cords and hoses separate because f*ck me I have nothing better to do with my life than google HOW TO INSTALL DRYER POWER CORD on a Wednesday night after a long day of smashing houses. Also always feel really awkward when guys come to deliver appliances. Like they are judging me (they are) and calling me a *** when they go out to their truck to draw penises on their paperwork. And yet i still fell obligated to slip them a $20 for their troubles.

Mentioned it before but as time goes on I'm feeling more and more like that 2011 team is one of my all time faves. That was an underrated bunch.
Stud NBA PG
Dead eye sharpshooter
Junior year home state Kentucky legend
Total psycho **** talking lock down defender
NBA journey man 4
Big honking white guy that could stroke it
I'm telling you, if the 2011 final four had been played in an arena the cats would have 10 titles and we'd all think about the team in the same way we think about 98. F*cking reliant stadium can eat a dick.

^ then as soon as Zone 1 finally starts boarding here comes Graham Wellington rushing through everyone excuse me, excuse me, coming through with his Elite Card held high, almost as if he waited on purpose just to stunt a little.

AT&T is even bigger, right? That huge screen kinda saved it a little, although I've read where the ones Reliant (NRG) added in 2013 are even bigger than Jerry's.

When I see a family of strollers traveling it always makes me pause whatever positive feelings I may have been having about future children.

I can't think of many things that look worse. Most of them *do* at least seem aware/embarrassed of how annoying they are to everyone else, though.

Made sure every leg of my flight to Indonesia had a Priority Pass Lounge. Credit cards are stupid though.

Yep, Vegas has the over under set at 165, so they are expecting a game in the upper 70s, not the 90's scoring in December. The way Cal has been playing, I think the under 165 is a good play.

I'm a Chase Sapphire reserve baller, but I usually just board in zone 3 or whatever. Flying shows what true dickheads lie beneath as far as the general public goes.

I drink ginger ale a handful of times a year and it's always when I'm flying. Fascinating ****, I know.

Bloody Mary Mix for me. Only time I will ever drink it is on a plane.
