One thing that was eye popping watching in S Carolina/Duke, Carolina/Arkansas & Florida/Virginia was how the SEC teams were light years ahead of the others with athletes.

ACC teams looked like they were 5 steps slower.
ACC is a skill league - always has been. Sometimes that catches up to them in terms of athletes.

There's no way in hell this season doesn't slow their recruiting momentum. Plus that kid will be back taking up a roster spot.

The ACC Championship run powered nostalgia boners from media when they reminisced about Duke's glorious potential before the season started. That's why they tended to down play, or even forget about Duke's weaknesses.

They ignored the fact that Allen was merely a shell of what he was last year, that Giles showed just a 2 minute flash of brilliance this entire year, and that Tatum had a propensity for playing me ball. The best, most optimistic view of these players were taken as truth.

-Crazy thing is, Old Grampa Giles played WAY more than Bolden. He must be SKJ bad.

-With Duke it was always -> who's playing D and who is running the show? They have GREAT wings in Kennard, Allen and Tatum but was K going to develop the D to fight like dogs(like we're starting to do and his 15 team did) or were the distractions going to delay all that. I said from the beginning he should've taken early lumps with Jackson and probably Bolden(if he's not just terrible).

-They weren't flawed. The were poorly developed. Defense was a HUGE issue. Toughness even bigger. Distractions galore and they have a future NBA point guard they sat behind the honks for the entire season. K is amazing but sometimes too much talent is almost as bad as not enough. Makes 38-1 seem even more impressive.

-Love the direction of this team and the fact they get another week to improve. They know how to win those dog fights.

-What's our best lineup right now? Hawkins, Briscoe, Monk, Willis and Bam? Pretty much right? Tough to call b/w Fox and Briscoe because he has to be in late game for ability to draw fouls. But that first team is just a bully on D with Monk taking enough double teams to open the lanes.

-Speaking of that, at some point one of these teams is going to stop keying doubles on Monk due to this mini-slump and [banana]

-What about Dom creating, driving, floaters, nailing wide open 3's. My man crush on that guy is infinite.

Meh, he's got a solid USA pipeline, one of the best recruiters in the game sitting next to him, 5 titles and they've been lining up blue chips for 30 years. They're going to continue to get their share.

They were certainly flawed. Relatively unathletic shooters are great offensively but notoriously terrible defenders. Duke fans have been claiming all year Kennard is the worst they've ever seen. Tough playing Kennard and Allen together.

It's been an entertaining day, keeping up with all the national guys who were drunker than Greg Marshall's wife on the Duke kool-aid.

They were flawed in the preferred lineups and the fact they were soft but they had plenty of talent to mask anything else.

I really, really hope we employ the drive and kick offensive strategy most of the game Friday...but with all this post game talk about Bam I'm afraid Cal is going to force feed him in the post. Blah.

Do they have full game replays from the NCAA tournament available to watch anywhere? Would love to watch some 2nd halves of the games from last night that I fell asleep to

2 plays from Saturday:

1. Fox spreads the court moves Willis to the corner and bam out of the lane, drives and kicks for the wide open 3(missed but still).

2. Cal going insane because Hawkins subbed in for Briscoe and was supposed to be Willis, then next play Willis draining a contested 3. :joy:

I'm kinda fine with that right now. Bam is causing some issues, and getting one of their honks in foul trouble wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Per my wife's aunt (her kid is best buddies with Kevin Knox), he's wanting to be OAD and told them he's leaning UK right now.

Hope he was watching Duke get bounced early yesterday.

Yes the acc was over rated. Ball dont lie. And i'm afraid with that our sense of how good we were/are is off as well since its mainly built on a resume of beating a bunch of teams that didnt make it past the 2nd rd of the tourney.

Truth starting to sink in-in Carolina.

Didn't Dr. X know Billy Donovan's pilot or something who SWORE he was taking the UK job at one point?

Sources!!

Kevin Knox could walk up to me, introduce himself, and personally tell me he was planning to go to UK, and I'd believe it when I read it in the paper.

Fox has been balling over the last 5 games
and was our steady hand yesterday in the 2nd half when baskets were at an absolute premium. Pretty certain he's in our best lineup.
