Fred Hoiberg will be back in the college game before Donovan. Also, IU is currently the 4th best program in the state behind Purdue, Butler, and Notre Dame. Cream has to go. Get Alford. He's ready.

Alford should go if asked. He's not part of the UCLA "family" and Bill Walton is always going to be on TV trashing him. He will get a much bigger leash at Indiana to run his program.

Sitting in the Marriott Courtyard lobby right now. The Donald Trump rally via Fox News was on the tube. I certainly wasn't watching but it's a pretty logical choice for public tv.

Then some dude plops down and flips it over to the local cable access airing of the city council meeting. :joy:

I mean, Marcus. It's a freaking party up in Lake Charles tonight! May pop a few brewskies after all.

I'd prefer that Sean Miller get to at least to one Final Four before Cal retires and we offer. Cal made touching UMASS and Memphis, two garbage programs, perennial powers from dirt. UMASS was a fng miracle.

I'd hope Miller could at least get to one Final Four at a top 10 program like Zona where there's tradition/resources and you're essentially only competing with UCLA for top dog in the West

There is not one grand slam hire out there available right now. That's the truth. Especially by Kentucky standards.

Sean Miller is a grand slam.

He's a prick but Marshall is a 3-run dong himself.

Love it when college basketball die hards in the area always automatically assume that coaches like Brad Stevens and Billy Donovan would come crawling back to any decent college job if available.

Get that most around here don't follow the NBA but to those outside the college bball world coaching in the NBA is the pinnacle of one's profession. Stevens has the Celtics 2nd in the East with tons of great draft picks available in an up coming loaded draft and they could use these for trade leverage. Donovan is doing a fine job minus KD and has one of the world's best players right now in Westbrook playing out of his mind. You also don't have to deal with the ******** headaches like recruiting, grades, dealing with administration and a stupid *** 20 hour rule. Strictly basketball at it's absolute highest level.

-Brax email me [email protected] there are 2 jobs you may already be in on but I figure if not I come across a lot of work.

- Everytime I look at the bracket I can't see anyone but Arizona going on the 6 game streak. I'd love to see a breakdown of champions from each region because the West in my lifetime seems to consistently be the "easy" draw.

-I liked the movie fences, although I see why it didn't make big $$$ at the box office.

-Chicken Marsala for dinner. The lass absolutely exceeded expectations on this dish.

Thanks, Richie.

Every basketball I know fully realizes that, particularly when it comes to Stevens in Boston. Kentucky isn't 'any decent job', and I was talking 5-6 years down the road. Donovan won't even be the coach in OKC by then.

I don't think he'd come crawling back here, he's already proven that -- But I can also think of two pretty good examples of Elite College coaches having a pretty marginal NBA experience, and then coming back to college. They both coach in this state.

-73 stole my Tim Miller shtick I created verbatim after I retired, and made it his own. Pretty pathetic, imo.

-You tried Cajun Chicken Marsala yet, krazy? Prepare to have your mind blown.

-I've noticed over the years you don't realize a LOT of things pertaining to sports, Joey. That's ok.

I brought Donovan's name up, not because I thought he was coming back to college, but rather just to point out that he had probably been gone long enough now that his name will start popping up with any decent opening.

Wrong, Tells Jr. You and people on here get it but fans in general in this area don't get it bc they don't follow and or like the NBA.

IF GLASS CANS CREAN THEN YOU KNOW STEVENS WOULD LOVE TO GET BACK IN INDIANA. HE'S A COLLEGE COACH. HE'D CRUSH IT AT IU.

DONOVAN WOULD TAKE THE UL JOB IN A HEARTBEAT.

They may not want to get back in the college game.

It's well known that Stevens is probably an NBA lifer. He's as big of a basketball junkie as there is, the League is perfect for him.

Donovan, I'm not so sure -- it hasn't exactly gone as planned for him, has to be disheartening. I can see him crossing it off his list at some point and going back to college where he has control of a program, although I wouldn't bet on it.

The NBA isn't for everybody, including his Mentor who tried it twice, mainly b/c of his gigantic ego. ...and that same ego eventually led him back to college, where as CoolCat alluded to, he IS the program.

And if Russell Westbrook gets injured or traded or opts out and bails, Donovan is probably fired within 2 years, after steering his team to one of the worst records in the association. And you know what? He would have NO control over it.

You conveniently leave that part out. A coach is only as great as his front office.

Nope but I sent you a pic of the meal. It's pretty damn impressive for a woman who refuses to eat that kind of food!

Donovan probably would take the UL job. Pitino won't ever retire, though. He will die. Same with K. Roy will retire. All 3 of those things will happen soon enough, and it will be interesting to see what happens.

I also do NO cable.

A krazycats/brax team would be unstoppable. Omg.

Valid points. But these dudes are all driven by ego
and to do it on the highest level is the appeal where people assume that every top coach who had success in college wants to come back to coach in college.

Also, Donovan is much better fit in today's NBA than what Pitino was in Boston.

To PTI's point, Hoiberg may be the one in trouble. The Bulls are of course, a complete mess right now.

Dunno, but it's funny watching him try and throw his name into coaching searches...he acts like he's kidding sometimes, but he's not. He wants to skip all the steps and just become a DI head coach at a Power School. lolz

He pisses me off sometimes, but I like him. His show is still on radio/TV daily, I enjoy.

WTF has Gottlieb been all year? Haven't seen him on TV once. Did CBS not renew him as talking head or something?

What'd I miss?

He was totally taken off the air in their coverage. Wasn't even a part of the CBS Sports Network shows. Go back to Selection Sunday on his timeline. He was incredibly insecure/upset over it all. Started doing periscopes and Facebook Live instead. He has his biases, but he is knowledgeable. Must just be a complete asshat to deal with.

Also, I bet Cal has coached more NBA All Stars than half the coaches in the league today.

Georgia does SEC things and loses at home to Belmont in the NIT. If only these schools could play as well against other teams as they do against Kentucky.
