Every one of the guy just listed is exactly who Tom Crean was once upon a time.

While that may be true, you now KNOW what Tom Crean and Cuonzo are as coaches. They're fair to middlin', at best. While guys like Drew, White and Prohm could be significantly better...although we don't really know yet.

If you want to make sure you don't get fired, hire a name or make a sentimental hire. You can always justify those enough to keep your own job. If you want to actually win, do some research and be at least a tiny bit bold.

If Crean and Cuonzo turn down Missouri, maybe they'll be able to land Gottfried or Steve Lavin!!!

LSU should hire Gottfried, TS. Marcus Welby.

He'll have them back SEC Westin it up within 2 years, may even make the dance once.

Think Seth G will ever give it another shot? He had VaTech on the bubble every damn year, and they were complete **** before he built the program.

LSU would actually be a solid fit for Mark Gottfried. But of course they're too good for a coach like that. Instead, they'll be hunting for that elusive up-and-coming Coach K clone amongst a handful of millenial assistants and low-D1 head coaches who have been in the game for upwards of 2-3 years. Good luck. Up and comer!

Harmon's boy Eric Musselman should be in play for some of these schools...a lot of them are similar in stature this year: Cal, Illinois, LSU...

Yep, Gottfried is perfect for LSU, if they want to continue their exact same tradition of underachievement. Who better than the guy who took Alabama from #1 in the country to out of the tournament in 1 season. Who better than the guy who finished 9-27 in his last two years in ACC play?

If that guy isn't a homerun I don't know who is.

LSU should go after Buzz Williams - although at this point I'm not sure it's a better job than VTech.

VTech is only a better job because Buzz Williams was there while Johnny Jones was drowning in his own drool at LSU. Give Buzz two or three years and the LSU job will be light years better than VT.

After MTSU bounces Richard, and does their thing again -- Kermit will have some options.

How fun must it be for coaches at the Final 4, btw? Lotta marriages strained out there I imagine.

Rick Barnes was boring, though. Shaka is EXCITING!!!!

(Rick Barnes needed to go though, obviously. Still a fine coach)

Agree, but he was in Tubby territory. Time for something different, for both coach & fanbase. 17 years is a long *** time -- but he made the dance every year but One (1)

He's a good coach, UT was lucky to get him.

Has Billy Donovan been in OKC long enough for his name to start popping up again for college jobs? That will be coming. Probably sooner than later if Crean is fired.

I am philosophically opposed to Kentucky hiring coaches that have won a national championship already. Just not sure the desired “I will kill someone to win a title” drive is there when they have already reached that summit, particularly when combined with a blockbuster Kentucky contract.

Sort of like PTI railing against max contracts for old ball players, I guess. In a perfect world Sean Miller would get close to answer any remaining questions, but not win it. Similar to Cal (who sucks) and Memphis.

Yep. The silver lining of Billy D turning us down was "how many more national titles can he have left in him?".

Also, I rooted HARD for Kansas to beat Memphis in 2008, for this very reason. Figured it would make it easier for Cal to leave Memphis. (And still have his drive to win his first one).

In the larger sense, though, this might be a crucial week for Gentry’s tenure in New Orleans. A league source told Sporting News that though no definite decision has been made on the future of the tandem of Gentry and general manager Dell Demps with the Pelicans, failure to secure that playoff spot (which has been all but lost) or at least to show “significant progress with this roster as it stands” likely will move the Pelicans to oust Gentry. Demps is more likely to stay, but that’s not a certainty, either.

CAL TO THE PELICATS!!!11!1!

Charles Barkley making fun of Lavar Ball was radio gold this morning on Mike and Mike.

I'm old fat and slow and don't play basketball anymore...but I can guarandamntee that no one who averaged 2 PPG in college can beat me in basketball.

Question.

Better to drive to Indy early Friday and leave Saturday or go Saturday and drive back after game?

Can't show two nights on the cc right now (home repairs/Atlantis in July) so it's either or. Unless someone takes a c-note and beer for a floor.....which is why cash is awesome.
