One of my UK buddies was/is very religious (not that there's anything wrong with that) and he hosted some party with a rootbeer keg on Maxwell. The polic showed up twice for noise complaints and the second time, they dumped the keg. The rootbeer keg.

Did the police respond to the loud booing?

He’s also shooting about 35 percent from three-point range, leading the team in makes and attempts from long range — this from a player who attempted just 23 three-pointers in 23 games on the Nike circuit last summer and has often been hesitant to try his luck from deep.
Next year will be awesome, can't wait for the draft!

- And here comes the Duke hype!

- I will give the millennials this- it seems, generally speaking, they take pride in being inclusive to special needs kids. That's a really nice thing. I love all these videos of these kids getting run in high school basketball games.

- I think Marshall and Bennett would both kill at Indiana. They may not be able to get Bennett, but they could definitely get Marshall. We need a little '90s Bengalsesque late season meaningless winning streak from the Hoosiers to give the AD some false hope.

- That "pick 5 teams against the field" thing is a chore for this year's tournament. I don't love anyone but I like a dozen or so teams.

- Egbunu is a huge loss for the Gators. Really like that dude.

- Simmons has dropped off a bunch but his Sports Movie HOF podcasts are terrific.

- Washington is one of those college-ready kids who would be ranked higher if he wasn't an NBA tweener. Jerry Meyer loves him. Tough, great rebounder, 7'3" wingspan and some good offensive skill.

Came away from last night more disappointed in Virginia than impressed by Duke. Duke's wins at Notre Dame and vs. UNC were way more impressive to me.

Virginia running intricate, methodical offensive sets to get their players difficult 19-foot jumpers doesn't do it for me. Hate that style so much, but thankfully it's dying off a little.

Duke getting on a run would allow our bunch to fly under the radar if they actually manage to maintain their recent momentum. Not a bad scenario. Gives Cal (and thus the team) the 'chip on the shoulder' mentality that seems to work best for him.

Cal's always looking for some sort of slight or perceived slight or sign of disrespect. Guy needs a boogeyman even if he has to invent it. Being completely overlooked while Duke gets all the attention is a pretty good scenario to feed that mentality.

Cal has changed his approach with this bunch it seems. Usually he wants the kids to figure it out and then empower them per say but now he's saying... Touch that. I'm done with allowing the growing pains, prouduce now and play with confidence or sit down.

Think he's also done with the feed the Bam post experiment. Teams have been packing it in daring Monk to beat us by himself not allowing Bam adequate space to operate. When the jumpers start falling like they did on Tuesday then the driving lanes open up and late in the game you can feed Bam for post moves because by then the defense is extended.

Fox getting back to 100% plus Willis finding his shot... We can go toe to toe with anyone.

You've just described every single athlete and coach in the history of sports.

I mean, Micheal Freaking Jordan used to play "with a chip on his shoulder," and went to great lengths to invent and create fictional "slights" that were perceived against him in his own mind.

Richie's rampant, day-to-day speculation about Cal's approach with the team is always insightful.

-Duke v Louisville for the title. Give me Duke. All/Air. Not even close.

-If these guys go into the Draft with a chip on their shoulders, look the hell out.

Virginia is moving backwards just as much as Duke is moving forward. Figured with lack of fire power VA would eventually fade away.

So DUKE being BACK consists of

-beating North Carolina without Hicks while hitting 10 more threes yet a one possession game under 2 to go

-NIT Clemson failing to get off a game winning shot in Cameron

-Beating a VA team who has lost 4 of 6

I was Flash on the Tubby SuperFriends. I was completely ready for a new coach the last 2 years, though.

I wasn't really as much of a Tubby SuperFriend as I was a '73 hater. Not the real guy, who I love, but the internet poster. Holy **** he would beat his anti Tubby **** into the ground daily. I know that's hard to imagine.

When I walked in his house and saw a Tubby autograph framed on his wall, it may have been the best day of my life to that point.

Glad you Legion of Doomers were so right about Billy Clyde. "He needs his own recruiting plane!" "He doesn't even go home, he sleeps in his office and eats cheese crackers and drinks Dr. Pepper!" "He GETS it!!!"

Umm, yeah.

I used to have epic battles with Smokey Pearl. I went to that Pizza Hut gathering in Newport. Good people.

I took my nephew, who was a walk on football player at the time. Probably a violation in retrospect. Free pizza from a booster.

Not sure why I remember it so vividly, but wcc calling Billy Clyde one of the great guard coaches in America, and BBdK immediately putting him on blast has always stuck with me.

I don't agree with the concept that it is every athlete and coach ever, but certainly many of the best ones. Jordan is a great example. I'm glad you brought him up. Helps to illustrate my point. Jordan had tremendous success with this mindset, but he was primarily focused on himself, whereas Calipari has to sell this to 18 and 19 year old kids.

Playing the "disrespect" card at Kentucky is difficult to do with a straight face, but Duke is the perfect foil for this. My point was that Duke being lauded for their run while Kentucky is dismissed on a similar run would be an excellent setup for Cal to latch onto to get through to his young, immature team. Cal could realistically sell them on the fact that they are being disrespected and no one thinks they can win it. His two best coaching jobs in the tournament IMO were 2011 and 2014 when he could look at the bracket and say 'see they're f'n us on purpose'.

I've put Chad on blast so many times over the years for weak hoops takes that they all run together for me at this point.

But I'm glad that one sticks out for you.

Cal always tinkers a bit. The good thing is he usually comes home by March and figures out how to play to his teams' strengths.

You made the "RIGHT TURN, CLYDE" poster, you SOB - you don't get to excuse yourself from that debacle.

I was hoping we'd do better (Billy D.) but yeah, I thought the drunk was going to get it done until our first couple of games. I soured on him quickly.

Hell, I'd be all in if we hired PTI and abh to coach the team. I'd convince myself they could get it done, until they couldn't. I just want my team to win. And I BELIEVE, dammit.

SmokeyPole was the greatest, and in some ways most knowledgeable, troll in the history of Kentucky sports message boards. Nobody could piss off their fellow posters with such curt, simple responses.

in the last 4 years, tubby smith's recruiting classes ranked #7 in the country. try again.
nope, tubby smith has averaged 24.3 wins over the last 5 seasons, 2nd all-time over that stretch in school history
tubby smith has won at least 1 ncaa game each of the last 6 years, something _________ never accomplished.
the 1974 class had 3 all-americans, the same as this years.
jamaal magloires average recruiting ranking was 14.6, which was actually higher. thanks.
sorry, but rick average 13 sec wins in those 3 seasons at kentucky tubby has averaged 13.2.

I'm man enough to admit I've had some bad takes over the years. But you know what- I'm still here every day giving them, and I'm still here repping the 8-5-9 and yelling "F Free World."

Glad to know SAE would take Duke over UL! Shew.

Think 99.9% of rational UK fans would do the same
but glad you cleared it up for us on where you would stand. Big news!

And again, go cheer for Rick. You can rekindle Camelot with the hometown team. You were a little butthurt when he flicked off UK fans in Rupp last year and this way you can rid yourself of being a miserable UK fan. Win/win.

My pup chewed up my beloved Reef flops I bought for the 2006 Fourth of July GYERO HHI excursion. They were still going strong. So went with some Rainbows which I plan to debut this May. I love rocking flops just on the off chance I run into SAE.

I search #TomCrean after every IU loss, it's truly one of the great joys of Twitter. Some of my favorite 'facts' from last night:

-Crean is 1-9 vs. Purdue without Cody Zeller
-Post Valentine's Day under Crean, IU is 28-28 (.500)
-Tom Crean is 69-89 in the Big 10 at IU.

...and maybe my favorite, Crean has winning records vs. just Two (2) B1G teams while at IU --------> Penn St & Rutgers [laughing]

[sick]

Really interested to see what they do. July 1st is the day his buyout drops by millions, but they can't make a move that late without throwing recruiting and/or missing out on the top hires.

Keeping him as a lame duck coach for one more year, with a team that won't be very good next year, also seems to be a futile option -- they won't be able to sign anyone.

Knowing IU, that's exactly what they are going to do. :) Tweet from Mark Titus, which would actually make some sense:
