He will play eight guys when it matters; tonight's starters plus Gabriel, Humphries, and Hawkins.
Yup and from January to early March, Hawkins will average about 5 minutes a game so Monk and Gabriel can get those minutes to develop. Come tourney time, however, Hawkins will still be there to steady the ship off the bench. Love that kid. It will be a little a dusty on Senior Night, for sure.
* Gabriel's haircut makes him look about 5% more clumsy. The guy looks like a newborn colt anyway, all elbows and knees. That hair swinging around makes him look even more out of control.
Love his game and the versatility it gives us.
* I liked Willis directing the offense from the top of the key in the halfcourt. With his skill set, height, and speed, he's a tough cover out there when he gets to direct traffic. It screws with the other team's defense too because they have to commit which defender they are going to put on him, causing mismatches elsewhere.
* It won't ever happen, but I wouldn't be opposed to experimenting with a starting line-up of Fox, Briscoe, Willis, Bam, and Humphries and swapping Monk for Humphries at the first timeout like Tubby did in 2003 with Estill and Hawkins. The instant swap of speed for size could wreck havoc. As said, though, Cal won't hurt Monk's draft status.
* Tom Crean probably drinks Dom with his french toast, too. UKO is such a putz.
* College basketball. [banana]
* Touch Rocky Top.
