Anth, what are your thoughts on smart thermostats? Do you have to service them a lot?
I just installed an ecobee3.

95% of the reason for purchase was to be able to adjust the thermostat without getting out of bed. (And it was my wife who wanted it out of the blue, so it was a no brainer excuse for dad to buy some new hi-tech gear.)

I have 2 and never use the phone app for either but I do check the weather on them in the morning. They're fine though and I actually like the ecobee the best. Surprised you didn't go nest to sink with you apple obsession.

Google bought Nest so it doesn't integrate well with Apple's ecosystem. The ecobee shows up in Homekit nicely and can be controlled by Siri, AppleWatch, etc. (I don't have an Echo, yet.)

This is my first ecosystem-based purchase, but ecobee3 works with everything else as well. (I do like the Nest design better.)

That's right. Forgot Google bought them but they were designed by former Apple employees. I don't see the use but enjoy. I set our alarm from bed all the time so I guess that's the same.

it "learns", something UKO hasn't done in 40/50 something years.

Not true.

Besides UKO's, could there be a more worthless opinion on anything than Player Mom's or Player Dad's?

People go insane when their son or daughter is involved in a sporting activity and frankly should be shunned until they stop saying dumb ****.

* Much like church and 4th Street Live, Twitter is great -- it's the people who participate that F it all up.

* Great day for me yesterday, technology wise. Shattered my iphone screen AND jacked up my laptop screen, too (there's now a huge "dead spot" in the upper left corner). Jeez.

* David Ortiz (2016) = .315 / .401 / 38 homers / 127 rbi

One of the most universally likeable athletes in sports, imo.

* Tiger is fine.

* We're getting a Halal Guys a very short stroll from my house. :cool2::cool2::cool2:

* Maybe it's local vernacular, but I've realized lately that people here say....

"we still on for lunch today? yeah, we're meeting for 12:30."
instead of --
"we still on for lunch today? yeah, we're meeting at 12:30."

WTF? For?

* Every once in a while, the internet is good for something. Favorite political nonsense yesterday (tie)...

Trump and Clinton doing a duet (I saw both "Islands in the Stream," and Dirty Dancing's "Time of my Life.")
and
Trump drops his "yeah, because you'd be in jail" line, followed by Nothin But A G Thang, the words "THUG LIFE" flash on the screen, etc

[laughing][laughing]

learning a players parent(s) name & hearing their opinions never turns out good. never ever.

bye week trip to Hubers for pumpkins planned, sounds like it will be a beautiful day (/AnthWeather). pumpkin doughnuts, kids pick what they want from the patch, run around the corn & bamboo mazes. great fall tradition.

happy that PTI has discovered the joys of internet memes, congrats bud.

like to get into Oct baseball, but christ the games are spread all over the damn satellite. Fox! TBS! BBall network! FS1!

still cant get over what incredible weasels Florida was about that football game, and that the new SEC commish was a nutless wonder & let them get by without ANY solution. every other school in the hurricane region changed their schedule & got their games in, FSU-Miami could play on Sat night no reason LSU-UF couldn't have played Sun afternoon/Sun night.

One of my good friends married a cajun and "making groceries" is by far the worst/weirdest.

Yesterday was gorgeous, great top down weather. Had a very nice drive. Straight'nin' the curve, Flat'nin' the hills.

Golf today, Keeneland tomorrow. Think I'll take the out Boat Sunday. :fire:

Nice morning in the bubbly.

I'd call that a masterpiece and consider mounting it over the fireplace, if the two birds doing just that would have been nixed from the final print.

If you want to slap that on the Olympic sports teams and their apparel, fine. Out of sight/mind ATKOT.

But for Christ sakes, keep that hideous logo away from our storied basketball program.

Stick to steroids and early disappearing acts, BOnZO.

That logo is great, even if it was ripped off of Northern Iowa.

It's here to stay. Embrace it or bottle your tears to sell to skinny guys at the gym.

I'm not convinced Nick Saban could win here, so who we get is really a moot point.

Just because we keep hiring alcoholic/terrible assistants doesn't mean the UK job sucks. Our AD sucks. Stop believing the stupid idiots who say you can't win at UK. You can win at any school, in the SEC, with a good coach.

How about we try hiring a good coach. That might work.

UK has lot a few National Championship games, and they've all hurt...but I couldn't imagine losing one on a buzzer beater. That's got to be the worst feeling ever as a fan.

And even worse, it came right after Paige hit that ridiculous shot to tie it, which had to make it feel like the heels were destined to win.

That has to be my all-time favorite 5 seconds of cbb that did not involve UK. :bomb::boom::fire:

Had no idea we "borrowed" the bird coitous logo from Northern Iowa, William.

Strike my complaint from the record then. Happy we can find inspiration from the gritty Panthers of Cedar Falls o_O

-:joy: @ the Jake Arrieta narrative eating extremely clean and being crazy dedicated to his body. ***cough cough*** TAKES STEROIDS ***cough cough***

-
That being said, the Cubbies are winning this thing.

-Little man was miserable yesterday. Had a mild fever that turned into a 104-105 for about 20 minutes. Up and down all night. Poor little dude. He did take a nap laying on my chest for the first time in about a year. :)

-I'm all for technology, I was just being honest about the stats. Not sure what you can really use them for I rarely change our temp even manually. Auto set for 68-70 and it switches b/w heat/cool automatically. Easy enough. Watch switching those things out though, likely to blow a fuse if you're not careful.

-Not real enthused about this Saturday Keeneland situation after Keeneland+Madness+Tony's on Friday. Would much rather sit on my couch watching football all day. Keeneland Saturday is the worst.

- How are Mt. Sterling's Court Days? May roll down with the folks Saturday morning for something different. They love it.

- Would love if Cal could steal Romeo Langford from Louisville and Duke.

- Whether the Cubs win it or choke again, it's going to be fun to follow in the next couple weeks.

- That NC State-Notre Dame game was ridiculous on Saturday. Not sure how you could even call that a football game.
