I dont think Henderson left on his own... I believe they allowed that to be the perception, but he was gone whether he wanted to or not. There was no way he could be retained. I realize I was more outspoken on getting him out of the way than most, but he was the worst college level baseball head coach I had ever seen. No hyperbole.

The practice of promoting an assistant coach to the head job at the same school is death sentence for us. They absolutely have to go with a way outside higher. There are a lot of good baseball coaches out there. Unfortunately Alabama axed their coach a few days earlier and they probably have the drop on us for the top coaches available. They have a new stadium thats as nice as youre going to find, fans that show up, talent level is much better in the south, and as soon as they get a guy in that doesnt just really on the scraps from local high schools and actually focuses on recruiting- they will probably compete alongside as the other top tier programs.

We however will probably go get the head coach out at Dunbar and give him the keys to the ****** car we currently have. The stadium will never be upgraded and they will probably cut the sport out entirely by 2020.

My first UK football game was the Chris Doering game, a church trip. Only Kentucky could have 7 interceptions in a game on defense and still not win. The prevailing sentiments of the adults on the trip on the way back to church that night was "YEP. PRETTY MUCH."

But enough of that crap. It's summer.

Jordan Mathews transferred from California yesterday and it sounds like he's doing the grad transfer and play right away thing. I don't think an All-Pac-12 caliber player would transfer here because of the particular makeup of the roster, but I'd imagine some good program is going to get this guy. I know his brother is playing at USC, but I don't know if California is a bunch of dicks about restricting transfers.

I'd be 100% for a Mathews for Lee trade. Win/win.

Make it happen TmfH.

The worst part about being a coach and having 3 kids is that I can't watch them all. 08s team might be our best group yet (Team NFs...ruthless...a lot of little brothers and cousins on this team), and I've probably only seen them play 4 or 5 times this season. I mainly stick with 05s team, and I coach 07s rec team, but I pretty much have zero free time during baseball season. It is frustrating. I love working with the kids though.

Does anyone really care enough about the hoops team to want Potsie gone meaning we lose out of the circus sideshow that makes it interesting right now?

Yeah I dont.

TKE live tweets every UK Baseball game, and pretends to live and die with each play like it's a UKBB tourney run. Very weird, ridiculous really.

Clark is the 2nd worst.

It would be cool if we made Omaha, and I casually follow from afar when they're doing well, but get real.

Rick Pitino raved about Louisville’s potential next season, suggesting Tuesday that the Cardinals’ length and speed mirrors the strengths of the 1996 NCAA championship squad he coached at archrival Kentucky.

(By) no means do I say we have that type of talent,” he said. “But we have that type of length, that type of quickness, that type of athleticism, so we are going to play like that team.”

[laughing]

"We're not as talented as arguably the greatest team in the history of the sport, but we're physically identical to that team and we will play exactly like them."

Completely agree that I just dont get how all these rednecks can enjoy watching baseball in warm climates and nice venues that actually allow you to sip a few beers without judgement. Its absolutely mind blowing.

It's absurd. It would be like if minor league soccer suddenly became a trendy sport to follow.

Stoops' biggest claim to fame was his last name? And here I thought it was coaching the 2nd best defense in the country and helping bring a powerhouse back to the national title picture.

Yeah, guys with those credentials *never* get looks unless they have a famous brother

Always a crapshoot hiring a coordinator. Can go either way. I thought it was a pretty good hire for a graveyard of a program.

Exactly the reason we need to kill all the snakes now, before they ultimately evolve into huge, invincible killers of all humans. The longer we wait- the easier their takeover will be.

I feel the same about wood (carpenter [eyeroll]) bees. My God those things are annoying.. I know they don't sting (normally), but they come at your head, bounce off, etc. Or will just hover right above you endlessly. Aggressive as hell. My few bumblebee experiences just won't let me be comfortable around them.

Gillie gets one every week or two, hopefully he can eat them all by summer's end.

It's not like Stoops was a heavily sought after head coaching candidate - certainly not the "number 1 DC in the country". He contacted UK after all, wanting the job. He did well at FSU, but his main claim to fame was his last name. If Stoops doesn't work out, I think you could legitimately say the last two hires were the worst back to back in the history of the program. Joker - lackluster offensive coordinator with no head coaching experience, hired mainly because of his ties to the university and for the sake of "continuity". Stoops - good DC with famous brother - no head coaching experience or other schools beating down his door.

lol

Stoops took Florida State from ranked in the 100's defensively to the #1 spot in two years.

Snakes are clearly the #1 wildlife threat in Kentucky, right? Mountain Lions #2 until the population explodes?

So, back from the Rio marathon. To make a long story short, ended up spending about 6 hours in a Rio emergency room half unconscious with some kind of virus that swept through our hotel and knocked out several runners from even starting the race. At least I got sick after the race and managed a 3:48 finish in very hot and humid conditions.

Not the best feeling in the world fighting to stay awake in a 3rd world hospital with an EKG being run and various needles being stuck in me, but I survived. Hotel manager was possibly an actual lifesaver by going to the hospital with me and making sure I was treated and offering translation when needed.
